X2 rules!,
By
This review is from: Mega Man X2 (Video Game)
This game is, overall, better than the previous X installment. It has a good level of challenge, although once you get the hang of it, the game becomes pretty easy. The weapons, though somewhat dull and uncreative, are still pretty fun to mess around with. For example, changing the weather using your bubble splash, speed burner, strike chain, and crystal hunter in Wire Sponge's stage, and the priceless joy of making Crystal Snail chase his shell around by using the magnet mine on him. This game has awesome replay value, not necessarily cuz of all the secrets, but just because it's so much fun! The graphics are great, not like the first one where there wasn't really definition between colors. One of the best features of the game is the music. The tunes in X were cool, but the tunes in X2 are so cool I've died trying to finger drum along with the music (especially in Flame Stag's level). The only complaint I have about the game is the slow down. I personally think slow down looks pretty neat-o, but only when it's supposed to happen! It's NOT cool, for example, when you're trying to dodge junk being thrown at you by Morph Moth's cocoon form! Fortunately, that flaw is ruled out by the game's overall well roundedness. The gameplay, music, and number of hidden gizmos to find make this game a must have for long time fans and a best buy for people who are new to the series(too bad it's so expensive!).

Mega Man X2 - Easily the best of the SNES Mega Man games.,

Although Mega Man 7 on the SNES is a pretty good game too, Mega Man X2 is still substantially better. If I had to rate them all, I'd give Mega Man X a 6, Mega Man X2 a 9, Mega Man X3 a 7, and Mega Man 7 a 7.
Mega Man X2 refines and creates the most fun and interesting version of the Mega Man X formula on the SNES (on the Playstation, the X games are pretty good too though). What makes this game better than the other Mega Man X games? A number of things: 1- Graphics. The colors are more vivid and well-defined. Not only are the colors graphically superior, but they are chosen more intelligently. In Mega Man X1 and X3 there were a lot of drab and ill-defined browns and yellows that melted into each other. While you may see a little of that in this game, believe me, it's much less than in the other games. The colors are more well-defined and there's a more interesting variety. In the Flame Stag stage, you've got some nice reds and browns. In Crystal Snail's stage, you've got a breathtaking assortment of blues and purples.A tropical setting in Wire Sponge's stage is well represented with greens and yellows. The yellow sands of Overdrive Ostrich's stage are great. #2- The robot levels are much improved. Wire Sponge's stage is a tropical jungle, but a less generic tropical jungle than, say, Neon Tiger or the Chameleon's stage from other X games. The Crystal Snail stage is even more gorgeous than Gemini Man's stage all the way from Mega Man 3. The Bubble Crab stage starts off with a beautiful sunset and then turns into one of the best underwater levels in any Mega Man game, ever. Wheel Gator's stage is an interesting ride through an armored military vehicle to face the boss in a pit of sludge. Overdrive Ostrich's level is a great, a blistering desert stage that has you riding a motorbike and destroying a rocket ship before all is said and done. Morph Moth's stage takes you through a high-tech junkyard. Flame Stag's stage is a perilous adventure through a number of volcano craters, it's pretty neat. The only stage I have to complain about is Magna Centipede's. It's your utterly generic high-tech factory/lab/fortress level that Mega Man X1 and X3 have far too many of. #3- The music is very good, a step up from Mega Man X1 and especially X3. X3 is terrible - they use the same 3 music tracks for every stage! From the mysterious tones of Bubble Crab and Crystal Snail's stage, to the harder-edged Flame Stag's stage, the music is memorable and distinctive. #4- The secrets are the best in the X series. The upgrades are better than fleshed out than other games. The fully-charged boss weapons are actually useful, and the secret finding device was a good addition. And of course, who couldn't love the Dragon Punch upgrade? The secrets are also hidden in some pretty ingenuous ways that you'll appreciate. In conclusion, this is one of the best Mega Man games I've ever played, including the first Mega Man games. Any fan of the series has to check this game out.

The best Mega Man X game ever!,

Mega Man X2 in my opinion is the best Mega Man X game ever made, besides X4 and Command Mission. If I had to rank the games, from best to worst, here's how I would rank them:
1. Mega Man X2 2. Mega Man X Command Mission 3. Mega Man X4 4. Mega Man X8 5. Mega Man X3 6. Mega Man X 7. Mega Man X7 8. Mega Man X5 9. Mega Man X6(I didn't know what this one was) This game was much harder than the first one, and harder than most of the X games(except X4), In this one, you had to fight the X-Hunters, and a surprise enemy at the end! This game really rocked, anyone who hasn't played it really should. And if anyone is wondering what the unification that the X-Hunters are talking about, its the surprise enemy.

Mega Man X2 is the second installment of this series, and says it in a strong way. It does not disappoint. 8 all new mavericks make their appearance, and this game also is MUCH more challenging than the original (which is a classic either way). The music is quite catchy, as always (it wouldn't be a Mega Man game without catchy music). It is also easy enough to rock out to (mostly). An uncommon SNES gem.

X2 brought the series to new heights,

Mega Man X2(1994): Part two of seven.Realizing that MM fans found the original MMX game to be a re-invigorating success for the series, Capcom answered the prayers of eager players and quickly pumped out a sequel for the following year. Here we have X2, the game that many long time fans claimed to be an undeniable classic. How does it fare? Get the lowdown: PROS: CONS: In the end, X2 is a stellar masterpiece in its own right, breaking off from X1's concept period, and enhancing them to new levels of gaming perfection. With very few flaws, this game ranks as one of the best in the series. I believe that X2 is accessible and easy enough to appeal to the newbees, while at the same time it gives the hardcore MM player enough challenges and secrets to keep them busy. 5 stars for an overall excellent SNES game. It's definitely one of my all-time favorites. From here, the series would take a bold jump in difficulty with X3, followed by a graphical upgrade (and a challenge-factor downgrade) in the following games. Now strap on your dash boots, get equipped with Magnet Missle, and go hunt down a copy of this game. You can't go wrong with X2.

Enhanced graphics and gameplay make this game very fun to play. It carries on the story and doesn't really screw it up too bad.Basically in this installment, you have to rescue Zero's parts from the X-Hunters- a band of outlaw mavericks determined to go through with the "unification" (which of course, we never find out just what the 'unification' is... figures). Gameplay: The air-dash ability is introduced. Nice touch. I really enjoyed the Bubble Crab and Wheel Gator stages. again the music is top notch in this installment. I liked the way that the stage select was formatted, however, I did NOT like the music (if you can call it that)that is played when viewing the stage select screen. Gripes: -The stage select screen music. Pluses: -You get to go back into one of the maverick's stages (Magna Centipede's) for the final confrontation. Conclusion: Megaman X2 belongs sitting on a shelf next to megaman x. The last of the really good Megaman X games (sadly).

The fun continued with the hit sequel,

Mega Man X was such a huge success that Capcom had to continue the spin off Mega Man series with a sequel. And so they did with the release of Mega Man X2 for the Super NES in 1994. Touting a brand new graphics chip specifically made for the game itself, Capcom made sure that the fun continued with this second entry. While in some ways, X2 was better than the first one, but overall it's just more of the same (and that's a good thing.)
Mega Man X2 finds Mega Man X rushing to a disturbance at an old abandoned robot factory to restore order there. Little did he realize that it was a trap meant for him and this is where the game starts out. After you get to the end, you face off against a giant robot. Beat him to see the rest of the intro. There are 3 robots looking to resurrect Zero, who sacrificed himself near the end of the first game. Why they want to do this is unknown to X but they are behind the new resistance of robots so you must defeat the new X-Hunters and make your way to the end to find out what's going on. Everything from the first game returns, including the same premise: you choose from 8 stages to explore and defeat the boss. Collect its weapon and you can use it against enemies and other Hunter bosses. The password system returns from the first game and this is how you save your progress. New to this game is the all-new themed stages, the side quest which you may or may not choose to complete (collecting Zero's old parts)and thanks to the graphics chip, all new special effects and graphical touches. The PROS: Graphically speaking, it is better than Mega Man X. You're in for a treat as to what you can see this time. The story is given more focus this time and you see just how the 3 secret robots play a significant role in the game. The overall presentation is good, the music is just as good to listen to and the sound effects do their job once again. The controls are the same as the last game so whether you played the first one or not, you will have no problems with it. Discovering the game's secret bonuses are cool as well: secret capsule that gives X a new add-on reminiscent of Street Fighter and a 2 player VS. mode accessed by inputting a certain code. Having the option to face off against the 3 secret robots to acquire Zero's parts actually impacts the game later on. If you beat them, you get his parts but if you ignore them, you'll face off against Zero near the end of the game. And of course, it's good to have the password system come back because it's a longer game and much harder than Mega Man X was. The CONS: The music isn't better than the memorable tracks you heard in Mega Man X. The game's difficulty is more brutal, thanks to the 3 secret robots. If you fight them for Zero's parts, prepare for grueling matches; and then you fight them all over again later on in the game! The game's difficulty curve does the reverse of what happened in Mega Man X: in X2, it drops the minute you fight Sigma (yes, he's back.) He's a complete JOKE this time compared to the first game and while the ending in MM X was awesome, this game's ending is not as spectacular. While the game is insanely hard but drops the ball at the last fight with Sigma and has an ending that doesn't compare to the end of Mega Man X, Mega Man X2 was still a sequel worth playing through. It had everything else going for it and will please all Mega Man X fans. It's hard to track this game down so you will have to settle with either a used copy or searching for the Mega Man X Anniversary Collection for the PS2/GC. I suggest for those who haven't played this game yet make sure to play Mega Man X first. I recommend this game to all Mega Man fans.

If you've played the original Mega Man series and the first MMX, you should be familiar with the way the game is played, as the formula continues like this pretty much. Eight bosses, a few other bosses, gained weapons, and so on and so forth. A decent game.
