5.0 out of 5 stars Great Game Boy Title!
Liked Super Mario Brothers DX but just need something a little bit faster for your tastes? You'll find it in Megaman Xtreme. This game is a solid conversion of the original Super Nintendo side-scroller classics and it features bosses from Megaman X and Megaman X2.

Liked Super Mario Brothers DX but just need something a little bit faster for your tastes? You'll find it in Megaman Xtreme. This game is a solid conversion of the original Super Nintendo side-scroller classics and it features bosses from Megaman X and Megaman X2.

Some of you might be wondering how they implemented dashing in this one, since the Game Boy only has two buttons (traditionally, X is a three button game - shooting, jumping, and dashing). They worked around this quite nicely. You can double-tap the directional pad to dash forward. Down-A made you slide in the original games, but it also makes you dash here (very useful). For dash jumping from wall to wall, it is automatic once you find the dash upgrade early in the game. There are also functions for auto-charging of the X-Buster, as well as for auto-firing.

A few suggestions. Although it is supposed to work on a normal Game Boy, it's performance is prone to a great deal of slowdown. Whereas, in contrast, the Game Boy Color runs as smoothly as the SNES originals did. In fact, I don't even think I noticed any slowdown, despite how much was happening on the screen. Besides this, the GBC naturally gives color to the game and it is very nice. The backgrounds are every bit as detailed as in the SNES titles, although the sprites are a kind of simplistic in comparison. They animate very well, however.

Overall, this is a very cool Game Boy game. But you'll want to have a Game Boy Color to really appreciate it.

This game is perfect!Maybe you don't know how this title looks like? It's an amazing game. Across the game you will battle against old robots, that are in the old SNES version: Megaman X. You'll also meet new friends and villians, that were unknown untill now! This Megaman is the most difficult of all the serie, the graphics are amazing and the sound is also. This is another must-buy title

5.0 out of 5 stars This Game Is SO Xtreme! (pun intended), April 5, 2001
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Mega Man Xtreme (Game Cartridge)
Okay, lets get started. This game is VERY good. I was going to get Mega Man 64 but it was back ordered. After buying this game I feel that I made the right choice. After it arrived I tore it out of the little plastic bag and popped it into my GBC. This game is cool! I had read that it was really hard, but to me it was kinda easy. I beat it on all the modes and I got all the secrets in about 7 hours. But I am a hard core Mega Man player so it might be harder to kids and teens who have never played before. The graphics are very good. The story is a little confusing but I made it through without any trouble. The game has a few frustraiting moments but if you practice you will make it through. I heard that on regular Game Boy it has some slowdown (when a lot of stuff is happening on screen and it slows down the gameplay) but I can't confirm that. Here are my ratings for the game:

Graphics - 5.0 Great!*

Sound - 4.5 Very Good but sometimes annoying

Control - 5.0 Very Precise!

Fun Factor - 5.0 Buy it if you have a Game Boy Color!

* - I used a Game Boy Color so I don't know how the graphics are on regular Game Boy.

A great game if you have only seen some Megaman's, but if you are a hardcore fan like me and have played X and X2 you may find it Waaaay too familiar. It's a combination of X and X2 with maybe one or two new things thrown in. Hey, you can always get emulators and find roms for X and X2 and get all the game. (I don't recommend this cuz' it's illegal). At least they could have made Megaman Xtreme a complete combination of both games instead of using halves. It's true, X and X2 are very good games. If you're new to megaman and prefer not emulating or buying X and X2(you should buy them if you have a Snes to run it on), GET THIS GAME. If you have played X and X2, DON'T.

4.0 out of 5 stars Megamanxtreme, August 23, 2001
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Mega Man Xtreme (Game Cartridge)
MegamanXtreme is a must buy. You can fight Chill pengiun,Storm eagle,Spark mandrill, and Flame stag at first but as the game advances new difficulties such as extreme mode(wich has 8 bosses)will open up. I"ve found every secret(wich were from X1 and X2)and have beaten the game on extreme mode and the other modes. Ok now here"s my ratings: graphics 3.0,sound effects 3.0,controlls 5.0,fun facter 4.0. This game is cool. On extreme mode there is no story. You should get it or wait till september for Xtreme2.(don"t play on game boy advance cause if you do at the last sigma level it will (mess) ... up.)

5.0 out of 5 stars 6 stars....., March 13, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Mega Man Xtreme (Game Cartridge)
This game is amazing! It is a GBC port of 2 classic SNES games. It's amazing how you can put this all from the Super NES onto a Game boy color*. When you first play the game, there are four bosses: Chill penguin, Storm eagle, Flame stag, and Spark mandrill. When you beat these Bosses + 4 SIGMA levels, you unlock Hard mode.It won't be easy. (Don't beleive the game, Hard mode is actually EASIER than Normal mode.) In hard mode, you fight these guys: Wheel gator, Armored armadillo, Morph moth, Magna centipede. Oh, and watch out for zain and geemel, THEY'RE BIG TROUBLE without all 4 armor upgrades. Also, there's an attack of every color: Shotgun Ice[Light blue], Storm Tornado[Lavender], Speed burner[Red], Electric Spark[Yellow], Spin Wheel[Green], Rolling Shield[Orange], Silk Shot[Gray], and Magnet Mine[Blue].

**This game works on the original Game Boy.

This game is great. I got it when it first came out and played it for about 20 HOURS and still never beat it. This game is a great twist of the classic Mega Man X and X2. Buy it. You'll love it.

If U like the megaman series get the game, but don't expect a game dificult, just expect another megaman. an easy one, and with some stages that U played before, in other megaman titles.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent Game, March 1, 2001

Ok, let me tell you first off...this is a REALLY good game for the GBCs power and capabilities. Also let me tell you, that the story ISN'T that amazing, groundbreaking, or even that good. The game is INCREDIBLY easy, but for first time players, expect at least a few moments of pure frustration.

The graphics in this game are great for the GBC...a perfect mix of SNES looking backgrounds, and NES type sprites, which is great when put together.

A few things i'm really mad about are: 1.) I wish there were no auto save points in levels (or that i could at least turn 'em off in the options) 2.) rather than 4 bosses in regular and hard mode (you can play all 8 in Xtreme mode), i wish they took the 8 from MMX for reg. mode, the 8 bosses from MMX2 for Hard mode, and put 16 bosses in Xtreme mode so that the game would feel like a perfect conversion of 2 classic games.

So, this game is a great game for MegaMan fans, first time players who want a challenging game, or for hardcore games that just want a great platformer for those long road trips.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Mega Man Xtreme (Game Cartridge)
Mega Man Xtreme is a game worth buying. The graphics are more three-dimensional than other Mega Man games. There are also plenty of levels and bosses to keep you busy. But don't think that you can finish this game in a few days. It took me almost five months to beat.
