5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best games on the Genesis
Mega Turrican on the Genesis is actually better than it's Amiga Counterpart (Turrican 3). The 1st thing you'll notice is that the game is really colorful (especially in comparison to Turrican 3). Now, Turrican games are known for their awesome soundtrack, the music in this one takes advantage of the hardware nicely and some of the music is better than it's Amiga...

3.0 out of 5 stars Would be good if it were not so bloody hard!
As usual, Turrican 3 delivers on action and button bashing with inventive, imaginative level design and furious gameplay. There comes a point though, in level 2, where the game becomes impossible and you (or at least me) go any further unless you have the timing of the Gods or something.

Which is a shame, since the Turrican series is what run-and-gun...

Mega Turrican is another favorite of mine and a solid platformer. The game itself has great visuals and a great soundtrack with a high replay value. Unfortunatley this game is a hidden jem among many platformers and is deffinately worth your money and time. I have played through this game multiple times and I still have not became tired of it. I suggest this game to anyone who is searching for a fun game and is on a budget.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best games on the Genesis, August 7, 2010

Mega Turrican on the Genesis is actually better than it's Amiga Counterpart (Turrican 3). The 1st thing you'll notice is that the game is really colorful (especially in comparison to Turrican 3). Now, Turrican games are known for their awesome soundtrack, the music in this one takes advantage of the hardware nicely and some of the music is better than it's Amiga counterpart (I'm thinking of the song Air Combat from Turrican 3). The game runs very smooth, the collision detection is very accurate, and the controls work fine (I would recommend using a 6 button Genesis controller though). My only problem with the game is the setting. You spend all your time inside a base, never in the desert or in the caves like Turrican 1 & 2 on the Amiga. This is a different kind of Turrican, but it's the best one on the Genesis and it's one of the best Genesis games in general. Get this game ASAP.

Which is a shame, since the Turrican series is what run-and-gun platformers are all about. The music is once again brilliant, with loads of cool tunes by Chris Huelsbeck and the graphics are great considering the hardware. The Amiga version does have slightly better graphics than the Sega version, but otherwise, they're identical. It's just too damn bad that it's too damn hard.
