Product Description

MegaGear "Ever Ready" case is the Best Olympus E-P5 Camera case

There are many cases out there and although some of them can accommodate a wide variety of cameras and models, the best ones are definitely those that have been made specifically for a certain model.

What makes the MegaGear "Ever Ready" Case stand out from the competition, is the fact that it has been designed specifically with Olympus best selling E-P5 camera in mind. The case is made of PU leather, which will keep your camera safe from dust and falls. Its interior is lined with a really soft fabric, which will ensure that the lens of your Olympus E-P5 camera won't get scratched or damaged, while you're carrying it inside the case.

But perhaps the coolest thing about the case is the fact that it uses MegaGear's, "Ever Ready, design. If you see a photo opportunity, while your camera is stored in the case, all you'll have to do is pull open the specially designed flap, and you will be able to easily take the photo, as if your camera wasn't in the case. You won't even have to take it out of the protective case in order to put it onto a tripod!

If you are looking for the best protective case for your Olympus E-P5 , then the MegaGear "Ever Ready" Case, is definitely the one for you.

I just received this case so I can't write about how it wears, but it gives an excellent first impression. It looks attractive and well made and it's a good fit for the E-P5 with any of the lenses I use most often.

I often travel light with my camera and one lens I'll use all day, and maybe an extra battery in my pocket, but no gear bag. I don't mind carrying a cheap camera without a case, but I worry about my E-P5 getting knocked on a piece of furniture or getting rained on. I can relax a little with the camera protected by this case.

In use, it looks like I'll have to unsnap and remove the top half of the case so it doesn't block the lens. The ever-ready cases of my film cameras could flop down farther out of the way because they attached to the back of the camera, but that is not possible with the E-P5 because the back of the case's bottom part is cut out for the camera's LCD screen.

The MegaGear brand name is embossed on the back of the case, but it is inconspicuous enough not to ruin the case aesthetically.

From the product photos here on Amazon, I could not tell before I received the case how the strap is attached to it. Actually, the strap attaches to the camera, replacing the original E-P5 strap with a strap that better matches the case.

I bought this case because I'm the type of person who is too lazy to carry around an additional bag just for my camera. I also don't want to make room in my purse for my camera and have to worry about my keys or other things scratching it up. With this I can wear it around my neck or over my shoulder without worrying about accidentally dinging the lens or body.

The quality and fit are good. It definitely doesn't feel cheap. It attaches to the camera body by screwing into the tripod mount hole. The lens cover part is too big for the 17mm lens I have on my EP5 but that is ok since it was made to accommodate the 14-42mm lens which is longer than the 17mm. When the hood is detached, the back back is exposed giving you full access to the screen and buttons. There is also an indentation on the bottom of the back part of the case to give you space to pull out the screen. It comes with a strap that I decided to use since it looks less cheap than the Olympus stock one. The whole case also came in a velvety baggie with the brand name on it. I'm not sure what I will use it for, but it was a nice touch.

Some cons:
1) The case blocks all access to ports and such on the camera body. This means you have to detach the whole case to recharge the battery or switch the SD card
2) It's a little annoying to unscrew the case off. This is because the screw head is between the two buttons that keep the lens hood attached, giving you little room for your fingers. This wouldn't be a big problem if it wasn't for con #1 mentioned above.
3) The lens hood is rather big. I detach the buttons on the side and pull the hood over and down in order to take pictures, but a lot of times the hood part is still in the way of the lens unless I hold it down. I'm hoping that wearing in the material a bit will solve this problem.

Other than those minor issues, I'm quite happy with the case.

This is an excellent case made of nice leather. It fits an Olympus E-P5 well with lenses through the Olympus 45/1.8. It's very well made, especially for the low price. Appearance and functionality are both very good. I've tried a lot of cases for many different and this is clearly the best of the lot. That it's so inexpensive is great.

We have the EP-5 kit, which comes with a really nice electronic viewfinder and we ALWAYS use that. This case doesn't have room for the EVF, so we'd have to take it off to use this case. We wanted the case in order to dispense with a camera bag at least some of the time, but then where do we put the EVF? So, back to Amazon it goes.

If you don't use an EVF, this is a beautiful leather case and will work great for you.
