The bag says 1-5. We got these for our 2 year old granddaughter and she was definitely ready for them. She only builds vertically at this point, so there is much room to grow into these. Because they are so large, you can really build some substantial-looking things!
There would be no reason to have nitrosamines in the blocks. As far as bisphenol A or polyvinyl chloride, probably not. There are very rigid standards for what could be in children's toys. BTW, you should be more concerned with the pigments that are used to color these toys- they're OK now. At one time lead, and cadmium based pigments were used,esp. on toys from China.
Square blocks with 4 prongs -
Length - 2.5 inches (on all 4 sides).
Height - 3/4 of an inch. (if you include the prongs the block is 1 1/2 inches tall)
1 prong block:
Length - 1 1/4 inches (on all 4 sides)
Height - 1.5 (with prongs 2 1/4 inches)
2 block prong:
Length - 2.5 inches by 1 1/4 inches.
Height - 3/4 inch. (with prongs 1 3/4 inches)
NOTE: There are TWO sizes of this block. some are 3/4 inch tall and some are 1 1/2 inches tall.
4 Prong Rectangle:
Length - 5 inches by 1 1/4 inches.
Height - 3/4 inch. (with prongs 1.5 inches)

I description of the products says the country of origin is USA. I have no reason to doubt this, but I have no way of proving it. This was gift for last Christmas and it's not in my home any longer. I was impressed with the quality and did not notice any odors, which is a tell-tale sign of imported toys.
