5.0 out of 5 stars An interesting little read, January 14, 2013

A great book for the holidays although you might not be too keen if you are near the sea, or a volcano, or lacking in some form of reinforced shelter. One interesting aspect of the book is that it holds a vast amount of information for its size on basic science, apart from the catastrophes. The pithy description of the standard model of physics is the simplest and clearest description for a layperson that I have ever seen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review of Megacatastrophes., November 27, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Very interesting read on potential megacatastrophes which can happen. Entertaining and enlightening, you do not have to be a science geek to follow the information, it is written for the general public. Once I started reading it I couldn't put it down.

This review is from: Megacatastrophes!: Nine Strange Ways The World Could End (Paperback)
I can't believe this has no reviews! This was a great book. The chapters were well paced, and you learned interesting facts (besides how the world could end). Did you know massive volcanoes 100,000 years ago may have reduced the human population to less than 100,000 worldwide? That an asteroid striking the ocean would crack the crust and ignite natural gas reservoirs? If you're into that kind of stuff, definitely get this book!
