Rust in peace - Notation and Tab mismatched,
By
This review is from: Megadeth - Rust in Peace* (Paperback)
Upon opening and beginning work on Hangar 18 i was disappointed to find that the notation was correct but unfortunately didn't have matching tab.
There were a few errors in notes and incorrect tabbed positions. Well presented book but i'm a bit hesitant to continue through fear of finding more mistakes.

Good quality second hand music book. It arrived in great condition and even had a pick in between the pages which I thought was a funny surprise ( I think the last owner accidentley left it there). This was the first second hand book I have bought off the internet and I would reccommend it and I will do it again. The description of the book lived up to its expectations.

My Favorite Thrash Album,
By Johnny (SW FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Megadeth - Rust in Peace* (Paperback)
Megadeth's "Rust In Peace" album was always a favorite of mine. I remember buying it when it hit the stores, when I was a teenager just starting to play guitar. From the blistering galloped chromatic lines in the opening of "Holy Wars", the solo assaults of "Hangar 18" the moving rhythms of "Tornado Of Souls", this book has it all. All nine originally recorded tracks, transcribed note for note. This book contains easy to read tablature for those guitarists who are just staring out, or those who don't read music. The solo transcriptions in this book are on point. Marty Friedman and Dave Mustaine have a some pretty hefty chops when it comes to technical ability. There are quite a few runs in this book that you could easily turn into practice regiments to build your own technique. All in all an excellent buy for any thrash/metal guitarist. \m/

"Rust in Peace" Tab-Book Review,
This review is from: Megadeth - Rust in Peace (Essential Groups & Artists) (Paperback)
This product is good. All the guitar parts(ryth1 ryth2 lead) are shown as well as all the bass. I have not come across any mistakes yet.
I bought this book because i absolutely love the guitar parts. Its difficult for me to learn this style of music by ear as it is alot different to what im used to. In short, i cant fault the Transcriptions in this book. 5 STARS

Helpful but be careful,

This book is good because it gets you on track to learn the Rust In Peace Album, however in the tab there are an insane amount of typos, you should definitely go through each song and rewrite the tab to make sure its consistent with the notes in the actual music. You'lll probably notice where the typos are since they are not consistent throughout the song.

These scores are largely correct, but the unscrupulous publishers at Hal Leonard left this book riddled with stupid measures. ...like how they omitted an entire measure in Hangar 18 in the intro. ...and where there's one there are likely more even if I haven't found them yet. This is still far more accurate than internet tabs so I can recommend it to the musician who is willing to listen to the album and adjust accordingly if not play it your own way to boot.

Book has some inaccuracies where notation is correct but the tab doesn't match. Intermediate to Hardcore Guit players will find the errors, beginers probably wont notice. Clearly Mustaine had nothing to do with editing the book as most song ARE played different in concert. Get a used cheap copy....
