Great Stories For Those Who Love Tarpon!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Megalops: An Angler's Affair with Tarpon (Hardcover)
If you've ever hooked a tarpon on the fly, or hope to someday, you need to read this book. The author does a great job of detailing all of the strange quirks and bizzare behaviors of the Silver King, and he does it with humor, good dialect, and a keen observation of the tarpon and his habitat. A beautifully bound book with great photos, great stories...a quick and entertaining read for the fly fisherman!

Nothing Better Than Tarpon Fishing!,

This review is from: Megalops: An Angler's Affair with Tarpon (Hardcover)
This book was worth the read. It was less about how to catch at Tarpon and more about the joy and fun of Tarpon fishing. If you're looking to connect with other Tarpon fishermen or learn more about Tarpon fishing there's a cool new social network dedicated to Tarpon fishing. Check it out www.GetTarpon.com

This one's not for the gear fisherman!,

The reader from Arkansas below obviously missed the point of this book. Perhaps he was disappointed that Mr. Brown didn't include a chapter on how to fish for tarpon with dynamite?

A pleasant departure from the norm!,

Finally! A fresh new voice, and a departure from the mind numbing array of expert opinion fly fishing books that are floating around these days. Brown won't tell you how you should catch a tarpon on the fly, but he will tell you why! This is an entertaining book for the saltwater fly fisherman, and a beautifully bound edition for the angling book collector.

This isn't a "how-to" book, by any stretch of the imagination. It is, however, a nice little read. I enjoyed the author's realization that there is far more to flyfishing for tarpon than bringing them to hand. I hope to reach that plateau someday; I still want to land every fish I strike.

Not worth the money,
By A Customer
This review is from: Megalops: An Angler's Affair with Tarpon (Hardcover)
For the amount of money asked, I was expecting more information about tarpon, gear, and fishing tactics. Instead, what I got was a testimonial that one person likes to fish for tarpon - plus a short history of one former fishing site.
