This review is from: Megatech H2O Elite 2-Channel Electric Speedboat-Yellow MTC7723 (Toy)
I have a lot of experience with all types of r/c models and this was a massive disappointment!
The boat arrived dead. I charged up the battery, installed everything per the instructions ... and nothing functioned; no motor, no rudder (it did float so I guess I should be thankful for that much). Following the directions again, I called Megatech tech support. However, now tech support is only available via email, only on weekdays, and takes 24-48 hours to respond to an inquiry. In the meantime, I determined the radio system was bad and replaced it with one of my own. I then sent "tech support" an updated email requesting a replacement transmitter and receiver. I finally got a response, however, my email clearly hadn't been read as they offered to send me a replacement battery and/or speed controller. Let's ignore for a moment that my boat was broken and that Megatech has virtually non-existent tech support. I did get the boat to run. Here are my notes on that. 1. Battery life, advertised at 15 minutes, is optimistically more like 8 (I got only two lengths of a backyard swimming pool before the boat started slowing down quite noticeably). 2. There's no reverse (this boat has a forward only speed controller that needs to be initialized every time you plug in the battery). 3. I had serious bouncing issues, where the boat would porpoise, not settling into a plane. Again I followed the instructions, trying various locations for the battery, to no avail. The bottom line... this thing isn't worth the headaches or the $80 I paid for it. A little Nikko boat I have is almost as fast and ran without issues ... straight out of the box and for less than half the price (and it has bliking lights).
