This plane is a good beginner's plane. Here are a few tip's for a great first flight. Read the manual, trust me it help's. Adjust the left rudder a little down, the right side set even with the tail(looking at the plane from the rear). Charge the battery, put the 8aa batteries in the transmitter and your ready. When throwing the plane DO NOT over throw the plane just...

I'm a grown-up, but new to RC and I made a fair effort to fly this thing. It costs $100, for Pete's sake! No luck at all. It corkscrewed into the ground, it landed on it's wing, it dove straight down. And it's never flown above 12 feet high! Everything has been broken at least once, most things twice. White glue and packing tape repair most damage, but there's a limit to what you can do. A new wing is $15 + $8 shipping.

As near as I can tell from other people's comments, if it's adjusted perfectly it must fly pretty good. But if you're even slightly out of kilter, you'll crash immediately and then you'll REALLY be out of adjustment, if the wing's not broken in two.

Plus, it takes 5 hours to charge the battery for a 10-minute flight. What's up with that? Even if the poor thing flew it's not going to get much use.

I feel really bad giving up on a toy that many 12-yr olds have mastered, but I'm buying a new electric plane (NOT MEGATECH) that's more in the $160 range and I hope will be easier to fly. This poor toy is headed for the trash can.

Adjust the left rudder a little down, the right side set even with the tail(looking at the plane from the rear). Charge the battery, put the 8aa batteries in the transmitter and your ready. When throwing the plane DO NOT over throw the plane just gently throw foward with the throttle on full. Let it climb to 100-200 ft high before touching the rudder control. Remember to toss into the wind, this gives the plane instant lift, and then you are off. Hope this help's and again thanks for all the fun..

So, my 11 year-old son and I had our first flight today, after waiting over one month for a calm day. I have several years experience with gas-powered R/C aircraft, so I thought I'd take the first flight, get the plane up to a decent altitude (100 feet or so) then hand it over to my boy. A light gust of wind (5-10 knots) ended the flight after about 30 seconds with a fairly soft upright impact in a snow-covered field before I could give him the controls. Upon reaching the plan, imagine my surprise to find the propeller broken in half, and the rubber-band peg in the back snapped in half. So much for a durable trainer plane!

I just e-mailed Megatech to see how/if I might get a replacement propeller and rubber-band peg, but I'm not hopeful, as these things don't look like they're user-replaceable.

I summary, a real POS. Save your money and spend another $100 or so and get something heavier-weight. If you buy the Sky Vector 2, more than likely you'll be disappointed, like my 11 year-old is right now.

I had just gotten a job over the summer and had worked for 2 weeks saving up for this. I was so exited about getting this. We went to the store and bought it. I got home and it was easy to put together but after I did I let the battery charge for about 4 hours. Then I want outside and Threw it up and tried to fly it, it went strate into the ground. I tried modifying the tail and after about ten times I finaly got it to fly.......................... once. I got it flting prety good but then,on my first time, it turned and did a spiral strate into the ground. The thin body snaped in half and I never got it to fly again.

I have read many bad reviews of this plane and think many of them are from people who expected way too much from a plane in the Ready to fly electric category...the plane flies nicely and is extrememly responsive for the type plane it is. My complaint with this plane is the lack of customer support..you have to go directly through Megatech in order to purchase replacement parts (which are way too costly!!)

4.0 out of 5 stars a good plane to start, November 5, 2004

This r/c plane flew well right out of the box and took a lot of abuse by several people, ages 10 through 50. We didn't have a large flat treeless area to fly so after several crashes it required some fine tuning with tail position and stuff to keep it flying well. I would have given this plane a higher rating if it came with these instructions. Anyway, this was done by trial and error which was frustrating until we invested in a video that explained how. It made all the difference in how well the plane flew. We now have two planes, so more than one person can fly at a time.

These r/c planes encourage you to learn about clouds and weather forecasting; electronics; and different areas of the country that are good for flying and why.

I strongly recommend getting a video on how to fly and adjust your plane. I also recommend getting extra battery packs. When we had electronic problems after a particularly bad crash we were able to get replacement parts. The only problem we have had is finding replacement propellers. Go figure :) All in all, this is still a great toy and they are still flying well after two/three years.

I just got this plane and I thought it would be an easy thing to use because I can usually figure things out very quickly. I flew it for my first time in a grassy field and it took off and turned sharply and spiraled to the ground! My mom threw it for me while I controlled it. The back V wing broke and I had to buy a new piece to replace it. I think the age range should be 15 and up instead of 10 and up because there is absolutely no way a little kid could control this. Before buying or flying this plane I recommend you go to [their website] and look at the FAQ and their online instruction manual. Their online instruction manual is different then the one that comes with the plane.
I learned a lot about this plane and I am going to test flying it on the beach away from the water since the wind is going to bring it the opposite way from the water. Once I get it flying I will buy a new plane and try to become a pro.

My son first was disappointed because it didn't look more like a real airplane but understood that if we crash it will be the wings that need replacing. Savings us from buying a new plane. On the second toss the airplane rose up then spiraled down hitting onto one wing. Not a major crash but not a perfect landing either.
The propeller is too close to the wings. When it comes down the propeller tears up the wings. But worse the post that holds the rubber band which holds down the wing broke off.

Now what? nobody will accept the return on it. I'm stuck with a $100 piece of junk. Very disappointed in its durability.
The other thing is once you get the plane you find out it only has a 7 minute flight time then the batteries are dead.

I just recently bought the plane. I carefully went through all the instructions. Got to a big open feild. Next i tested the plane. the instructions tell you to put the power to the max using the throttle. DONT!!! have the propeller running. then turn it all the way down so it is not moving but it is still on. Next get a freind to run with the plane into the wind. When the friend releases the plane and it starts to glide straight, then turn the power on to adjust the altitude. Then the plane is great inexpensive fun...

I just got my Air Vector and I like it already. Its my first r/c plane but after some practice I've getting better with it. I've crashed it pretty bad a few times already but the only damage It's taken is a small rip to the main wing. Besides that the only other problems I've had is sometimes the plane won't resond, but since the plane I got is one that was hanging off a roof (last one left in the store), I'd suspect the wire got bent. My advice would be make sure you read the instructions, so you don't flip out when the motor quits only to find out the battery has died, and maybe consider a spare battery. And make sure you fly in a big area like a field, having trees nearby just don't work.
Other wise I'd say great plane! Lots of fun! (and I'm 15 =])
