~*~A really Cheaply made toy that is WAY overpriced on here~*~
on December 1, 2009
If you are wanting to buy your child a learning/musical toy, then skip this and get something of better quality like the Leapfrog Caterpillar. My Mom bought the Leapfrog Caterpillar for my Niece and it has more features and is more durable. Someone bought my girls this Megcos brand and it is a crappier version of the Leapfrog.
My girls DO like to play with it, they like to pull it by the string and enjoy pushing the buttons to make noises or music.
BUT as a parent I can see what my 13 month old twins can not. The legs are very cheap and they would be very easy to break off and then be something too small for little ones to put in their mouth, thus being a choking hazard.
The 'wires' with the toys they can move are pretty cheap & flimsy, again something that could easily be broken and the parts are the perfect size for a choking hazard. Another reviewer said one of the wires on theirs broke and I am not surprised.
It can be pulled along by the string but since this is very cheap it is the squeakiest thing.
This only has numbers 1-8, most toys have at least 1-9. This also does not have all the colors like most other toys...take a close look at the few colors of the caterpillar legs...orange, blue, yellow, green.
All in all this is a cheaply made toy that does not have as many learning or fun features as other comparable toys. I also don't think it is a very safe toy since it could be easily broken and has choking hazards. Also the numbers that are on the feet are only stickers, one of my girls already took her little finger and scraped off one of the numbers. I saw that she had been picking at the feet but I didn't realize they were only stickers until she was trying to eat something...a little sticker number.
If you do want to buy this you can find it at Kmart for a LOT cheaper than it is on here.
