I have tried several microfiber towels recently, they are all great in comparison to using a standard terry cloth, that being said not all microfiber towels are created equally. First and foremost always be certain to pull the tags off any towel you use before working on that show car in your garage. These towels I give a good 4 star rating but not five to due to the fact that while being microfiber they still left some minute residue behind on my cars finish. They are better than Zwipes, they are much much bigger than Zwipes, but sadly pale in comparison to Cobra microfiber towels. I feel the cost versus value regarding this item isn't very good, you only get 3 towels for nearly $9.00 so for me this is a once and once only purchase.

I recently decided I was going to detail my automobile (clay bar and all). Naturally, a good microfiber cloth is part of the necessary equipment, so I decided to get some new ones and ordered the Meguiar's x2020 supreme shine microfiber (pack of 3) based on the very positive user reviews. Like any product, there are huge variations in microfiber cloths, and these particular clothes are near the bottom of the list. My main complaint is that these leave a LOT of lint on whatever they've cleaned. They are literally unusable with glass, mirrors, sunglasses, computer screens, etc. because of the amount of lint. I even noticed it when I used them to wax the car, and I expected better based on 4.5/5.0 stars (at time of purchase). The weight is relatively light (I'm guessing 220 g/m^2 based on a comparison to other known microfiber weights). That's not a complaint, but rather an observation since it wasn't obvious in the description when I bought them. I would say these are mainly suited to applying waxes / polishes and using bug and tar removal, but not for removal of traditional waxes or application of instant detailers or spray on waxes. (Don't get me wrong, they will work, but so will cut-up blue jeans, it's just a matter of performance). However, if that's all you're going to use them for, they seem overly expensive (2-3X), hence my low rating. To be fair, I figure I need to offer a better solution if I'm going to knock a product, so here goes: I would recommend using some cheaper microfiber cloths (easily attainable for less than a buck a piece) for applying traditional wax, removing bugs, etc. I'd then invest in a quality microfiber cloth or two like my favorite, the Cobra Delux Jr. 600 towel, or others like the Mothers ultra soft microfiber quick detail towel. Both are MUCH MUCH better microfiber towels in my opinion because they are more plush, absorb water/dirt better, reach into tiny spots that hold waxes better... they just make the jobs easier. It's worth the couple extra dollars (maybe more) since they last for years and years and maybe more. If you like the lower weight, the Cobra Mango Breeze are slightly more expensive, but offer lint-free performance and seem to offer slightly better construction (which honestly, probably won't matter in the end, because both will last many dozens of washings). Hope this helps, and good luck with your projects!

I bought these not for my car, but to clean stainless steel in my kitchen, wash mirrors, that sort of thing.
I can honestly say I've bought just about every microfiber cloth out there, and none work as well as these. I can clean the stainless in my kitchen in minutes, with no streaks, no lint, just shine, and without using chemicals (just some white vinegar and rubbing alcohol in warm water.) I probably added a few years to my life with all the time I've saved with these cloths. I highly recommend them!

At about 3 bucks a piece they are an excellent buy. As all the other 5 star reviews have noted, they are soft and versatile. They do an amazing job on windows and mirrors. They are 16x24.
I rated them 5 stars because they are excellent and an excellent value too. If you are looking for the next level, or you really want something dedicated to just babying your paint job, then these Cobra towels ( Cobra Miracle Towel 6 Pack ***NEW*** ) are pretty awesome. These towels run about $7.80 each with shipping, they're plusher, 70/30 towels and although they are the same size, 16x24, they seem a lot bigger and they feel much nicer. Darin

May be the reviewers who are raving about these towels have never used microfiber towels before - or at least not quality ones- but these towels are just about average. Not particularly thick, soft or plush. I encourage those who rated them a full 5 to try other quality microfiber towels like cobra or detailer's paradise before passing judgment.

(OK, I give . . . after being beat up with thinly veiled accusations of being sexist, I have edited my review using parenthetical modification to try and make it less offensive to all readers).
High quality super-soft microfiber. Excellent for cleaning and drying without leaving behind water-spotting or scratches. Use on prized exterior paint and in the interior also, with or without a detailing spray. Really, you might want to buy an extra pack for your wife (or life partner or yourself). They are just as useful inside the house for dusting fine-finish furniture, or computer/audio equipment that you (or your wife or life partner) don't want to scratch, like dark glossy plastic surfaces. My towel/chamois collection have now been demoted to wiping up motor oil spills (or spaghetti or fondue dip or baby food spills). Try a pack.

Absolutely the best car care product I have ever bought. Its like a miracle. Much, much better, easer to use, and functional than an chamois to dry your car. Extremelly recommended.

I purchased this product just to see if it was better to use than terry-cloth bath towels and it is definately better. I have been a car-nut since 1955 and now I have a beautiful black 1991 Chevrolet S10 Blazer SUV and black reveals every inperfection! After a quick water rinse to get rid of the pollution, I use three of these towels to dry the vehicle and eliminate any water spots. These handy little towels are all you need. It is better to use three small towels rather than one large towel because the latter would drag the ground, snag on the trim and acessories, would get heavy with moisture and is not as precise in getting in tight places. I first rinse any dust and pollution off the car with water, wait 10 minutes for the surfaces to drain a little, then I use two towels at once, one in each hand and work around the vehicle. I can completely dry the vehicle in 15 minutes, including the glass, using one of these lightweight towels in each hand so no droplets will have a chance to dry and leave water spots. The third towel is used for detail after the vehicle is dry. In case you find a water spot you missed, one of these damp microfiber towels will wipe out a water spot with just light rubbing. Larger towels will get heavy with moisture and can pull the wax off your car.

I bought these thinking because they're microfiber, there wouldn't be lint! But I supposed that's my bad for not researching enough. Reading the rave reviews on here, I thought these are top notch. They are no better than the ones I buy from Big Lots. You CANNOT clean GLASS, WINDOWS, LCD SCREENS, LENS, OR ANY GLOSSY SURFACE with these as they will leave tiny lint marks all over the surface. What a disappointment.

These microfiber towels are a very good value. They clean well and are quite soft. They don't hold water like a good chamois, so I recommend that they be used primarily for cleaning rather than drying.
Because of the nature of the synthetic fiber, debris tends to "cling" to the towel. Avoid dropping these on the ground and make sure there isn't any foreign matter on the towel before applying it to the nice finish of your car! |
