Architect Mehrdad Yazdani has won the respect of critics and clients alike for his imaginative approach to the design of public and institutional buildings. Mehrdad Yazdani, the first monograph of his work, presents a collection of 25 projects, large and small, built and unbuilt, illustrating Yazdani's responsiveness to issues of public engagement, program complexity, and site context. The author, architect and critic Joseph Giovannini, emphasizes the role that drawing and painting have played in guiding and inspiring this Iranian-born and Texas-educated architect.

5.0 out of 5 stars A first gathering under one cover: 23 projects, large and small, April 26, 2006
This review is from: Mehrdad Yazdani (Paperback)
Artist Mehrdad Yazdani has practiced his work in one place for most of his life, earning the respect of fellow architects and critics for his imaginative designs of public buildings: this represents the first gathering of his work under one cover: some 23 projects both large and small, built and un-built. Blueprints and design patterns accompany full-page color photos of constructed buildings to capture the extent of Yazdani's vision in a wonderful, compelling presentation highly recommended for college-level art libraries specializing in architectural displays - especially modern architects.

Inside This Book (learn more)
First Sentence:
Mehrdad Yazdani-mild-mannered, soft-spoken, quietly-dressed- does not look particularly subversive, but immediately after graduation from Harvard's School of Design, he acted on what was then an unusual insight: that it was possible for an exponent of avant-garde architecture to infiltrate the business world, and design unexpected, even eccentric work at large scale. Read the first page
