I play the Ukulele, just picked up the mandolin and a washboard, and this is going to be a great addition to any jam.

Great woody sound and the velcro system works like a charm. I might have to buy another one to try to increase the volume of the rattle only because I use as an ankle rattle while keeping time with my HEEL as I play a hand drum sitting. I need it to project more in larger rooms. Otherwise, it is another great Meinl product.

I play a few different hand drums in a sitting set up and use a couple of Hansen Futz pedals for tambo & a block. This shaker blends very nicely with the cajon and conga sounds and the bright wood shells penetrate well as a contrast to the drum tone. I found placement makes all the difference for loudness: if you're a heel down thumper, move it higher, up closer to your knee. A toe tapper? ankle's a good place.

Additionally I love strapping it on my toddler's leg and letting her dance around the house, she get's a real kick out of it and it acts like a cat's bell.

The wood "bells" and very live and responsive, and the rattle is less severe than bells, more subtle. I find the velcro to be more convenient than ties.

This foot rattle is great! I bought one for each ankle but wound up using both on one ankle. I love it so much I am buying two more to layer on over my first purchase.
The sound is clear and the wood is a fabulous addition to other types of rattles. On my opposite hand is use two Meinl Motion Shakers worn as rings while I am on a djembe drum. I'm a one woman rhythm section. What FUN! The Velcro can attach multiple units together so the possibilities are endless.

We use this for a Special Needs music group. The sound is wonderful. We wanted to use it for kids who couldn't grasp things. The idea was to strap it to their wrists so that they could see and feel the instrument (a multi sensory thing). The strap is big so, it doesn't stay on their wrists as long as we would like before it flies off. We're trying to think of a way to adjust it, but there are so many of the wooden "bells" on it. If you can use this on your ankle, you're golden!

I play conga with other hand pieces, shakers, etc, as well as a hi-hat and this item adds yet another dimension! Volume of the shaker changes with different foot positioning (ie down on the heel vs lifting the foot backwards and coming back down) and it's surprisingly sharp on the downbeat if needed. Velcro is quick and easy and can be worn bare-legged or over pants. Nice conversation piece too, people love it! Once again Meinl comes up with a winner!
