It's perfect. It's sturdy. We've had it almost 2 years and now it has become an egg in his kitchen set. :-) My son loved these much more than any rattle I tried to give him.

AWESOME!! I've been searching for egg shakers like the ones we use in our music class so my son can "practice" at home. These are heavy duty. The ones I've found at the store seemed to have a thin shell. Between my kid and the dogs, those would have been done for in a short time. These are hard on the outside, shake beautifully and clack together musically.
No complaints.
