It's strange that just after 4 years and only one new studio album. Marta is releasing a new greatest hits album. Actually it would be difficult to choose between one and the other. The first one; "LOS MEJORES AÑOS DE NUESTRA VIDA" has more songs and the selection is better but you won't find any new songs. On this one you notice the effort just with the cover (one of the best cd covers that I've ever seen) and the fact that she has recorded 3 new songs including "PROFUNDO VALOR" a song that she wrote for her twin sister who died from cancer. The song has very emotional lyrics and had reached #1 on the spanish charting lists. Finally I have to mention that two of her biggest hits had been re-recorded for this production ("DESESPERADA" and "SOLDADOS DEL AMOR"). "DESESPERADA 2004" sounds much better than the original.
All this is if you know about Marta's career. If you don't know much. I can tell that she has an amazing voice and that her music goes from pop to dance and ballads to blues. She also happends to be the Spanish singer who works with some of the best producers in the business, including Paul Barry who usually works with Cher and other top singers and she even affords to record her productions in the U.S even though she lives in Spain and her music audience is almost all from there.
The DVD includes most of her videos and has an exclusive interview plus behind the scenes from her 1993 video "DESESPERADA". The DVD is good but it could have better like including all her videos or her latest video from "PROFUNDO VALOR"

This is a great compilation of Marta's hits. It's not so much of a "Best of," but rather a collection of her promotional singles, most of which were hits. Serious Marta fans probably have these in their CD collections. However, there are three new songs and two remixes. The remixes are for "Desesperada" and "Soldados del Amor." For those of us who have followed Marta's work since she was a member of Olé Olé, hearing "Soldados del Amor" is great. Unfortunately it's not quite the same anthemic version of the early nineties, but a remix. Still, given how hard it is to find a compilation of Olé Olé's work that includes that song, it's great that it was included here. I wish Marta had included "Con solo una Mirada," a song that made the group truly famous in Latin America and which featured a fun video.

With regards to the DVD portion of the CD, the music video compilation is great. It includes just about every Marta clip I have seen except for "Vivo por ella," which was the only obvious omission from the whole compilation (but which is available in "Los Mejores Años de Nuestras Vidas" a previous compilation), and the video for "Arena y Sol" which I imagine might have been excluded to avoid problems with censorship in the U.S. The DVD also includes a candid interview with Marta and a sort of compilation of photographs over the years.

As for the new songs, they are each in a different style, including a politically charged hip-hop-esque number ("Sepárate"), a cool rumba flamenca ("Caradura") and my personal favorite, the ballad "Profundo Valor." The latter song was written by Marta for her sister Paz, who passed away recently. "Profundo Valor" is an ode to the memories we should keep of those special people we lose, but not before they have taught us much about how to live well. The song comes in two versions, and the acoustic version at the end of the song (appropriately tagged unto "De mujer a mujer") is beautiful. All in all, this is a great compilation, and a good way to introduce one's friends to Marta Sanchez's music. Hopefully, she'll keep generating more great music!

Here is someone who defines talent, style, beauty, class, and more. She truly is one of a kind. Her voice is everlasting and strong and she is as hip as can be. I wish we had more true talent like her around. I've followed Marta since she was with ole-ole and let me tell you her music just keeps getting better changing with the times. buy it she can sing and shes beautiful too!!!!

Galmaraz . . . it's difficult to find Marta Sanchez merchandise anywhere, I believe, so what a jewel this cd is!! The music is, well, wonderfully Marta . . . I never get tired of hearing her powerful vocals! The 3 new tracks are utterly fantastic, as well as the remixes. But what got me to buy this disc is the dvd . . . WOW!! The interview alone can make a grown man cry . . . for more. A must have for any fan of this timeless, ageless beauty!

Está excelente, vienen sus mejores canciones, 3 temas inéditos, Desesperada 2004, Soldados del amor 2004, sus videos, el making off de Desesperada, una entrevista y por si fuera poco una versión acústica de Profundo valor. Comprenlo ya.

Even disco/dance music sounds good in Spanish...glad to have finally discovered this artist...great range and variety in this compilation.

Really, I love this cd in especial the song "soldados del amor" a new version..But I'm expecting the new cd of Marta..

The dvd ummH !! I didn't like two version of "desesperada" one in spanish and the other in English..the same to "desconocida".
I would have liked some live performance ,only a few songs.

I have just purchased this cd/dvd and found it to be an excellent and must have item for any and all Marta fans plus anyone who can appreciate a true voice and talented singer! It is very difficult to find Marta Sanchez cd's and videos here in south Texas so being able to view videos by this DIVA is such pleasure to my eyes and ears!!! The whole thing is excellent!!!!! Looking foward to more of Marta in the future!!!WHAT A VOICE!!!!!
