Zambrano's bilingual book accomplishes for her audience, the Latino woman, what Evelyn White's Chain, Chain, Change ( LJ 10/15/85) did for the black woman: defines domestic violence within a specific political, economic, cultural, and psychological context. It was written to serve both the abused and the agencies with which she may dealpolice, the courts, the medical profession, shelters, counselors, and religious leaders. Major areas of concern are the social/cultural factors that influence a Latino woman's choices; lack of monetary resources; the language barrier; and the rights and problems facing undocumented women. Este es el libro esencial, no solamente para la mujer maltratada, pero tambien para todos los que quieren ayudarla o comprender su situacion. Todas las agencias que especializan en la violencia domestica utilizan este libro. Algunos de los temas de que se trata son: porque las mujeres se quedan en relaciones abusivas, porque algunos hombres son abusadores, el ciclo de la violencia, como afecta a los ninos la violencia domestica, cuales son los recursos de ayuda que existen para la mujer latina en los estados unidos, asuntos legales, y mas. Muy beneficioso, y es un libro escrito especialmente para las Latinas.
