Translation of the classic Midrashic work, January 24, 2006
This review is from: Mekilta De-Rabbi Ishmael (Paperback)
The following description of this three- volume work is given on the book-jacket.
"The 'Mekilta de-Rabbi Ishmael' is one of the oldest works of the Midrash, The body of ancient comments and traditional interpretations of the Torah. It contains an exposition of the large part of the 'Book of Exodus'(chapters 12-23) and represents the two main modes of interpretation, the Halakah or legal , and the Aggadah or moral an religious teachings. The work also contains allusions to historical events and ancient legends not found elsewhere."
This is an attractive bilingual edition in which the Hebrew text is especially clear. The fine translation is by Jacob Z. Lauterbach.
