Mel Bay Rules, September 12, 2009
This review is from: Mel Bay Guitar Journals - Chords (Spiral-bound)
Great book to add to your daily practice routine... Stick to this bad boy a few times a week and you will be not only know some wacked out chord progressions, but you will be creating your own unique stylings within a few months... Spiral bound and clear and concise diagrams are just an added bonus... In a world where most guitarists settle for the bare minimum, this is a book that is wiling to go against the grain and present something actually worthwhile... Ted Greene has some sweet books too, but this one is so crisp, and I don't have to squint to see the chord voicing...

Really a great book, December 5, 2010
This review is from: Mel Bay Guitar Journals - Chords (Spiral-bound)
This is one of the best book out there for jazz progessions and vocabulary. It contains the chord progression found in Mel Bay's Guitar Method book Grade 2 expanded editions and included extras.
These are chorded solos, given illustration of how a vocabulary of chordal patterns can be linked together linear melodies. Nonreaders can relax because all of the examples contain the chord fingering above the music staff in diagram forms..
These patterns are arranged by chordal notes, beginning with the root.
These are the building blocks from which melodic lines in chords-style can be created.
Overall, this is a great book for not only learning some great jazz voicing, but to see how jazz voicing work and connects with linear lines.
Once you learn the first ten progression, you will have enough to assemble your own chord melody lines and become more efficient with melodic chordal soloing too.
Also this book is a chord dictionary. it has a section containing each chord type with its inversion.
Enjoy!
