This is a great book to help you develop and fine tune your picking. Many of us (myself included) neglect our picking hand because we are so focused on what our fretting hand is doing. Jimmy Bruno is a monster picker and here he breaks down alot of the mechanics involved in picking technique in the form of simple exercises. A definite buy for anyone searching for tools to develop their picking.

This is a straight forward approach with some great examples and a great DVD. Your guitar technique will improve no matter what style you play. A lot of the techniques in this book are tricks in thrash metal as well as in be-bop jazz guitar playing. Jimmy Bruno's no-nonsense approach makes it easy to just open the book and start learning. Lastly, pay attention to detail when going through the exercises. There are some mistakes, but they're pretty obvious if you keep an eye out.

If you want to sound like a jazz player then you have to learn how to economy pick and this is the ultimate book to learn it. This book is not for rockers, country boys, or classical geeks, it's for guys who want to play jazz in a smoky bar and sound authentic. Jimmy is great because he makes it simple and clear.
