Jonathan Kreisberg is emerging as one of the great new voices in jazz guitar. His previous work on the Criss Cross label showcased his superb technique and advanced harmonic understanding. This new Mel Bay release is probably his best work to date and is a must for any Jazz guitar fan. Players like Peter Bernstein and Adam Rogers have been receiving a lot of press lately and J. Kreisberg deserves the same recognition. Highly recommended.

Jonathan Kreisberg shines here as an excellent guitarist, arranger, and bandleader. The whole vibe of this recording is that of "in the pocket" modern jazzers that pay homage to their old school influences by infusing those inspirations with sublime technique. Individually and as a group, they rock, effortlessly. Check out Kreisberg's fluidity on "Hobroken", the guy just rips, quietly smiling. This record is highly recommended and I look forward to checking out more of Kreisberg's recordings.

It's nice to see songs like the title track seemingly strive to exceed the sum of its parts, but the majority of this partially interesting Jazz guitar disc suffers from typical call-and-response type songwriting which in effect whittles down most of the emotional pull to mere technicalities.
