About the Author

John Robert Brown is a saxophonist, clarinetist and author. His professional playing experience ranges from membership of a 'sixties Hamburg rock group to occasional work with the Hallé Orchestra. He is the author of How to Play Saxophone and La Clarinette Sans Professeur. He contributed a chapter to The Cambridge Companion to the Clarinet, drew pencil portraits for The Cambridge Companion to the Saxophone, writes a Reed Clinic column for the magazine Crescendo International, and contributes to CASS Magazine, the journal of the Clarinet and Saxophone Society of Great Britain.

Currently John Robert Brown is External Relations Consultant for Leeds College of Music, Britain's largest music conservatory. In this capacity he travels worldwide.
