This review is from: Mel Bay's You Can Teach Yourself Recorder (Paperback)
Just started playing recorder four weeks ago. Bay's book is good in that it teaches you to read music while you learn to play your instrument, and it gives you a CD featuring several of the pieces in the book - a huge benefit. The oversights I've noticed are a)there's barely any instruction on breathing method and b)"tongueing" (a very basic must-know skill) isn't explained at all. I found myself spending time on the internet to supplement these oversights, and even had to re-train myself on how to produce clear notes.
