5.0 out of 5 stars More Melanie Martin Por Favor !!
Although this is a great book for children - I LOVED reading it myself! Carol Weston does an amazing job of getting into the mind of Melanie Martin - a quirky 5th grader from Manhattan whose life is turned upside down by the arrival of Miguel from Spain... 3.0 out of 5 stars Melanie, Go Away
This is part of a series - I didn't know that, but the book can stand alone anyway. Is it ok to be unimpressed by this book? The cover drew me to it but, overall, I didn't find Melanie or her exploits all that entertaining. Melanie just came back from a trip to Spain where she met Miguel, a boy her age who comes to NYC and visits her there. Melanie shows him the sights...

I'd forgotten what it's like to be that age and fret about boys, best friends and annoying little brothers - such a treat! I would definitely recommend this book (and series) to anybody - what other book makes learning about New York, Art and other cultures so much fun?!

I LOVE MELANIE!!!!
And this is the best one yet. I couldn't put it down. Melanie is such a great
character and this book made me really want to see New York City someday. I've
read all four in the series and I definitely recommend them :D.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT BOOK, GREAT SERIES, April 25, 2005
This review is from: Melanie in Manhattan (Melanie Martin Novels) (Hardcover)
Melanie is such a funny and wonderful character! I have been giving these books to children for years and they are always well received. The kids love them because Melanie is so moody and spills all to her diary and because Matt the Brat keeps saying things he shouldn't, and the parents thank me because we all know how hard it is to find a series that is truly worth reading. My own kids have learned a lot about art and other cultures through Melanie's mother (an art teacher) and their family travels. I highly recommend Melanie in Manhattan and the previous three books. The author's website is worth a visit too. It's melaniemartin.com.

5.0 out of 5 stars ahh Manhattan, March 16, 2005

Melanie's latest adventure in Manhattan is, perhaps, her best yet. It is enjoyable to recognize all the places she visits, such as the Frick, Central Park, and Zabar's. Any New Yorker will relate immediately to Melanie's experiences, while girls from all over will be given the best tour possible while eagerly following (and identifying with) the difficulties the heroine faces in having a crush on two boys at once.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Melanie in Manhattan (Melanie Martin Novels) (Hardcover)
I LOVED THIS BOOK

My best friend gave me Melanie in Manhattan for my birthday and it is really great. It is funny and very realistic. My friends have read all the Melanie Martin diaries, but this was my first one. I like how you feel like you're in many different New York City places, like Central Park and the Bronx Zoo and the museums, and I like how Melanie worries about everything, from her best friend to her worst enemy, and how she has a crush on two different boys and can't really choose. I recommend this book. I could not put it down, and that is not usually the case for me.

A Kid's Review
The fourth book is longer and better!A must have for a b-day present. Melanie's boyfriend Miguel come by. Then she also like Justin, a boy in her class, I think she should stay with Miguel.Well that's my opinion! Anyway, this book is great from ages 9-13, or if your grownup, you can read it too.

Melanie's back, and this book is so cool because you get to read about her in her own hometown. I'm glad Miguel's in this book, too. I've even been to some of the places she takes him!

4.0 out of 5 stars Melanie in Manhattan by Carol Weston, May 23, 2008
This story is about an 11-year-old girl named Melanie who lives with her brother Matt the Brat. Melanie is going through a lot of problems. I think the book is good for girls 8-14. This book has very good artwork. This book is also a great book because it can teach you some Spanish and art. It also has very good humor. It is a very good book.

It is about a girl that has a long distance love with a guy named Miguel. Also, she has a girl that is stealing her best friend. Her name is Suze. Also they talk a LOT of Spanish. Next, the cover is really cool with a lot of action. Also she lives in the city.

Melanie is an 11-year-old girl who has an adventure in the big city of Manhattan. Her boyfriend Miguel is coming to New York for a week. Oh no! It was very good. However I recommend it for girls 10 and over.

It is about a girl who lives in the city. She has a boyfriend named Miguel. She also has a younger brother, Matt, her Dad and her Mom and an art teacher. I think it is a very good and detailed book. I loved the cover.

I think Melanie in Manhattan is a good book for kids in 4th-6th grade because the book could help through those years. The book is about a girl named Melanie and the problems she struggles with her friends. Her friends are Cecilia and Suze. Her boyfriend is Miguel. Miguel is a Spanish boyfriend she met in Spain. The boyfriend comes to visit all the way from Spain. There is also a lot of Spanish so if you are learning Spanish you should read it. She hates her brother so she calls him Matt the Brat.

A very good and interesting book. Made for middle-schoolers. Very nice and detailed cover. Lots of things going on. Melanie in Manhattan is the last of the series. There are a few before this book, like Melanie goes Dutch and With Love from Spain. I loved the book Melanie in Manhattan. It also was very funny and interesting.

I think Melanie in Manhattan is an OK book because it has inappropriate things. It is good because the illustrations are amazing. Also I like how it tells you about her life, and when she signs her name when she's done writing in her diary.

As Melanie goes through adventures, author Carol Weston makes it realistic and humourous. Although slightly inappropriate, Carol's pictures and Spanish dialogue make up for it. Her writing makes up for it. Her writing makes it seem like a real diary of an 11-year-old who wishes to be more mature.

This is a good book. This has amazing pictures. I love how Carol Weston has some Spanish in there. However it is a little inappropriate for kids 8 and under. 9 and up it should be a good book. It is about an 11-year-old who is trying to get more mature and has a little brother - Matt the Brat - and is sometimes getting in the way of her crush Miguel. Overall this is a great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars My first Melanie book, can't wait to read more..., July 17, 2007
Great story, love the NYC and art references. I previewed this book before I sent it as a gift and now I will pass it along to all my friends kids. Excited to read more in the series. M in M tackles real tween issues such as changing bodies, first smooch, troubles with friends in a very realistic and honest format. Wish I had Melanie when I was a kid.
