This is a compilation of albums 3 thru 5 of the 9 albums recorded by this premier Hawaiian contemporary group. During these years the group matured and the harmonies became tighter & more beautiful. Most songs are in Hawaiian & some are in both English & Hawaiian. It's an excellent introduction to Hawaiian music for the novice. Having listened to them 'live' for years, this brings back memories. Israel's brother, Skippy, was still alive for these recordings. Out of 15 songs, I'd rate 10 of them as essential & the remaining 5 are all good ! Most notable is probably 'Hawaii '78.' It's the song speaking of the 'life of the land being perpetuated in righteousness.' (hopefully you don't have to be Hawaiian to understand this concept!) Favorite cuts: 'My Yellow Ginger Lei,' 'Hali'ilua,' 'Kaleohano,' 'Wai'alae,''Kiss Me Love,'& 'Hawaii'78.' EXCELLENT liner notes!

ANOTHER GREAT CD FROM THE MAKAHA SONS AND ISRAEL KAMAKAWIWO'OLE! IF YOU LIKE " IZ" AND THE "MAKAHA SONS" THEN THIS IS A MUST FOR YOUR COLLECTION.
