Should Have Gone to the Top of the Charts, September 16, 1999

This CD is excellent. It is beyond my comprehension why it did not go to the top of the charts when it released -- it blows away many that have. Back Street Boys blow -- Lifter's where it's at!

Very Good Music, December 5, 2002

If you like straight up "alternative" music, especially the type which was popular during 1994-1996, you'll absolutly love lifter. I don't understand how this band never got popular, and I've never heard anything of them since this release, but the album is a rare gem. Get it.

One of the best, May 14, 2008

I had a girlfriend in high school who watched 120 minutes religiously. She made me a VHS tape of video's, one of which was by this amazing band, lifter, called the dark, sultry red of hate. It had a beautiful intro, and exploded into this powerfully emotive rock song. She eventually got a copy of the CD because we liked it so much. Had trouble finding it at the time, so she got it through Columbia House.
The power of this album from the first notes of Yardcow to the last drones of Shine, moves me every time I listen to it. Mike Coulters poppy, interwoven vocal harmonies and deceptively intricate guitar lines, Jeff Sibelia's tastefully upfront bass playing, and Jonny Rouza's pounding drum work all culminate into a beautifully cathartic rock album. No idea how they got swept into the alterna-rock dust pan, but it's a damn shame. COME BACK!!
