We got several Melissa & Doug Jumbo Knob puzzles for our 13 month old daughter and she loves them! It is easy for her to pick up and she puts the pieces where they belong - not necessarily fitting the shape in but on the same spot as the picture :-).

I had looked at other brands of puzzles but found the knobs too small and worried that they might be swallowed if it came off. The Jumbo Knobs in M&D puzzles are screwed on and very secure.

This puzzle is very durable-my daughter is in a throwing phase, so these pieces have been thrown around repeatedly and still look like new. She has learned the animal sounds for all the animals. The big knobs are great for her little hands and improving her fine motor skills. Melissa & Doug puzzles were recommended to us by my daughter's speech therapist and we love them in our house!

The puzzle is super cute and colorful. The large knobs make it easy for a one year old to handle the pieces. The only downside is that the wood is pretty soft so if your little one is into banging things around, the puzzle can look worn pretty quickly.

I have a 2 year old son with Down syndrome. This puzzle is fantastic for him. The knobs are easy for him to grasp. The puzzle is very durable. He bangs the pieces together and bangs them on the puzzle board. The knobs are still secure and the pieces are not broken or chipped. This puzzle is a great learning tool for him. It teaches him not only where the piece fits in but we also say the name of the animal and make the corresponding sound. I highly recommend this puzzle for toddlers and developmentally delayed children.

I have other Melissa and Doug puzzles, and expected this one to be just as good. Mistake. The older ones had pictures painted on the wood board, this one has a paper picture glued on. The safety of your baby eating that paper and glue is unclear...

On top of this, the board is not solid wood, but looks like a few thin boards pressed together (sorry, don't know what it's called!) - the edges are very sharp, I tried to file the rough sides down and cut my hand!

Of course, no way my son is playing with this puzzle, so all its cuteness and pretty sound education value - along with my money, are going to waste. Think twice before buying.

My 11 month old Grand daughter use this for the first time yesterday. The paper is already starting to come off. Poor quality product.

Gave this as a gift for a first year old child after my mom gave a car one to my son. I like how the handle fits a young child's hand and the design is very simple yet intriguing. I love how it's made out of wood. Some times, basic toys are the most interesting for a child and this one is one of those. I strongly recommend it. The only little thing is that if your child likes o bit on his toys, some of the corners might unglue a little, but it's well made oveall.

I purchased the two puzzles for a baby (1 year). At this point the pieces are very tasty. Although, I've watch the baby try to put the pieces back on the puzzle board. I really think that this is a good solid product.

I've always enjoyed Melissa & Doug toys, especially their puzzles. But the reviewer who said that her puzzles came back positive for lead concerned me. My husband said to get the puzzles anyway and test them ourselves. I got this puzzle and the Barnyard Animals Jumbo puzzle. Both tested negative for lead. I also tested a bunch of other Melissa & Doug toys we have and they all came back negative for lead as well. We really like the Melissa & Doug toys we have now and will continue to purchase products by them in the future.

I got this puzzle along with the fish and house ones for my 7 month old. She loves this one the most. thek nobs are nice and big. the only thing I would suggest is when you get the puzzle use it yourself a few times before giving it to a little one to get those last little specks of sawdust out of the grooves.
