This is a great idea, I love the interchangeable cards. I wish the cards would stay in the slots better, they often fall out in our tote bag and then get a little bent out of shape. Our 3 year old doesn't really get the game yet, but he likes looking at the pictures and opening and closing the doors. Unfortunately, the little wooden doors make a rather loud snap when closed (by a 3-year old!) and when that is all the kid is doing, it's kind of annoying. You should know they aren't very compact (each one is thicker then an average board book) being made of all wood - not a terrible thing but something you should know about when deciding if they fit in your packing plan. Also, the little doors are held in place by an elastic string - something easily cut by a rambunctious child.

My grandkids and I played this while driving to Boston with their parents. We had fun playing it and it kept them from getting restless on the long trip. We liked how the windows flipped up and over, making it easy to use while traveling, even for the 5 yr. old.I left it with them and I am sure they will use it over and over. It was well worth the money. Melissa and Doug have great games as I purchased Travel Hangman too and that is a favorite of the whole family!

I bought these for a trip to Montana. These are built well and seem like they will hold up. I like the different cards so the kids can switch it up often. I am only letting them be seen when we are in the car. We have a commute even from home, so we will get lots of use out of these.

I bought this as a gift for my 10 year old daughter. I know she’s a little out of the age range for this, but we love doing this kind of stuff in the car together. I like using our car time to either talk or have fun together looking for things. I had bought her a different Bingo card that we loved playing, but it didn’t have the cool removable cards that this one does, so I wanted to get this instead. I’m pretty pleased with the purchase, but it could definitely be a better product with a little tweaking. Here are my thoughts on it:

-Card selection: I like having the nice variety of cards, but none of them were really perfect for us. We tend to use the “vehicles “card the most. Our daily driving is usually to pretty regular places (basketball practice, grandparents, local restaurant, ect). The stationary objects, like movie theater, post office and car dealership, get pretty old. We all know where they are and it’s just not very exciting using those cards unless we were on a road trip. We talked about how there wasn’t a single card that we liked everything on (vehicles is closest, but we never see helicopters or trains, so that makes those few spots pretty much impossible). My solution: make my own card! I’m in the process of doing this. I’ll post pictures when I finish.
-Actual board: The flaps on this are cool. I think it’s probably better for older kids though. My 10 year old isn’t tempted to open and close them, but a younger child might be distracted by them. I think it’s great quality and an innovative design. The downfall is that it’s hard to store them with the windows open, we like to pause our bingo game if we go in a store or something, but sometimes the windows get closed accidentally. It’s a great size though and the paint is holding up well.

I got this for my twin 5 year olds to use for a 18 hour road trip. They are now 8 years old and they still enjoy playing it when we go on road trips longer than 3 hours. In fact, they are the ones who request to bring it when we pack the car. I have made 4 other cards by using cardstock and our own stickers that we have around the house when they had gotten bored with the others but that's it. Great travel toy to use for long trips!

I wish the maker had made a better design choice on how to cover/uncover squares; like a sliding window, etc. Setting up all 25 squares to begin a new round (to get the chips to stand on edge) is tedious in any environment. For a child to do it without distracting a driver in a car that is navigating through traffic and irregular roadways is even a bigger challenge. For a child that just likes to make noise this chip slams closed noisily and for a child that enjoys making noise for fun this game has plenty of it at his/her disposal. My five year old grandchild liked letting the chips slam closed almost more than he liked the idea of the game itself, especially when the subject matter on the travel was fewer or farther in between. He found out about the noise when simply just trying to stand them all open to start a new game. During a game when he wasn't trying to make nose he inadvertently snapped other chips closed just trying to select the chip he wanted. His youthful dexterity and the dexterity required in a moving vehicle combined was a challenge. This is an excellent idea for a travel game, this rubber-band driven noisemaker to cover and uncover the 25 windows is a noise-laden implementation of the game.

Let me summarize it this way: If you've ever played table-air-hockey you know what fun that can be while you are playing it, but more to the point, if you are an adult sitting nearby and not playing you know how the recurrent hockey noise gets on your nerves faster than traffic and horns while driving. The thing about this bingo-style cover the square game is that it combines the normal driving tensions and the irritating noise together for a really bad outcome.

If your child is dexterous and dislikes making noise this is the game for your travels with them, otherwise you have good reasons to pass this one up. It is well made and exceptionally durable, so it will hold up for many years of joyful noise making.
