In reality, this puppet is very small; so small that my hand doesn't fit inside the mouth very well, thus it is very difficult to use. I had to abandon it and purchase a normal sized puppet and create the clothing. The good thing is that it was very cheap in price, so I don't feel that badly ripped off.

I got this puppet for my son and he loves it! He won't stop playing with it. He Named him Chef Palo. SO CUTE! I think it would of done better with two rods though.

My nephew loved it. I thought the puppet was on the small side and it should have come with two rods instead of one but it was a good purchase.

My 7 year old daughter LOVES this puppet. Very well made, easy to use. She makes up funny personalities for Chef and uses her imagination more than she would with a stuffed animal. We also have the cheerleader and the baby. They seem to take a lot of rough play well, none of them have shown any sign of wear or tear. Great fun.

I bought the chef puppet last year while on vacation. Melissa and Doug make great, quality puppets at an affordable price. The chef puppet in particular is so good you might expect to see it on a TV kids show.
You work the mouth with one hand, and his arm with the other. Definitely worth buying for kids of all ages.

I purchased this puppet for my 5 year old. We already had the builder puppet and fireman puppet. These puppets have provided hours of amusement for the whole family. Promotes children to use their imagination (and adults too).

This is a lot of fun around the pretend kitchen. He is made of a durable cloth with attached wooden dowel to control one of the hands. I have average size adult hands and it fits just fine, but may be unable to fit a larger man's hand. My kids can control it easily. It will stand up to some rough play. As with any wooden dowel, treat it with some caution or it will snap but I have not had this happen. Overall fun choice.

I purchased this puppet for my 3-year-old niece. I must confess that her mother and I had more fun playing with it than she did. It may be more age-appropriate for an older child (or adult) because of the dexterity and imagination it requires, but it's a wonderful interactive toy and my niece did have a good time watching us play with it!

My seven year old grandson wanted puppets for Christmas. He loves this puppet. Great buy and a great price. He keeps himself entertained playing with all four of these puppets.

After reading some of the comments about other M&D puppets looking "deformed" - I wanted to mention that these puppets are toys first, additionally they are $15 toys. They are not large professionally created "Muppets" - so don't set your expectations much over a stuffed animal. And no...they don't look like "real" people.

Overall - these puppets (we have 9) are made very well relative to the cost. They do not have strings hanging off of them and most have surprisingly good details like finger nails (on the dragon) and a detachable clothes (scarf and coat for the chef...the hat is not detachable). Each puppet even has it's own head shape and size making them even more diverse including the various outfits.

You just can't beat having your very own puppet troop for this price. I should note that we do not let our 3 year old "play" with these puppets yet. Instead we pack them away after each show. We think of these more as props for now until he is old enough to pretend himself...

FYI - if your chef's hat is a little mushed - stuff a little paper inside to "puff" it up a bit...
