This was a fun craft for my 2 and 3 year olds. They enjoyed painting and assembling the trains. The only drawback is that the paint is not washable. Made quite a mess on their clothes (and hands) that I could not wash out.

Overall another great toy from Melissa & Doug.

My boys had gotten one of these a few years back for Christmas and LOVED it. When I saw this I ordered it for my third son so he'd have one as well. It is NOTHING like the older boys- this one is 1/4 of the size. Very disappointing- still fun, but not worth it IMO

My 3 year old son loved painting this and has enjoyed playing with it for about a month. It is a lot smaller than I expected it to be, but he seems to really enjoy it. I got his several of these create a craft kits and he has enjoyed all of them.

i got the cottage ones for the girls and they were a hit also
very glad with the purchase

It's a very tiny toy, and I think it doesn't worth the price. My son won't play with it after 10 minutes.

My 4 yr old son loves loves loves trains and this was going to be an ideal craft for him. However, I was very disappointed and he seemed disappointed as well. While he had fun painting it and putting the stickers on, unfortunately, the stickers wouldn't stick (we let the paint dry for 24 hrs prior). They fell off repeatedly. So, we have a painted train that can move (why I gave it a 3 star) but has stickers falling off all the time. Probably not worth the $5 or so I paid for it.

I bought this for my 3.5 year old daughter. I opened the paints, handed her the brush and let her go to town. She had a great time!
After the paint dried, she put on all the stickers.

As one reviewer said, yes it's a hunk of wood. But my daughter really enjoyed this project because it's different than other arts and crafts projects we've done. She loves the train and still has it, even though there's nothing much to do with it any more. She likes looking at it and talking about how pretty it looks.

This is also a great inexpensive toy to give to another child. We get invited to a lot of Birthday parties from classmates of my daughter's preschool, and this is a nice present to give a preschool aged child without spending a lot of money.

I ordered this train and when it arrived I was disappointed by its size.
It is small and looks hard for a 3-5 yr old to try and paint.

My husband and I purchased a bunch of these for our Christmas toy drive at church. We thought it would be a great activity for a child to do with his/her family...make it, then play with it. Also gives the kids something to do and a creative outlet. It also gives them a sense of accomplishment. I think this little kit is adorable, not overpriced (at least the sale we got!) and would be great for a little boy to have. We also bought a couple other themes. And would purchase again!

I bought this for my four year old nephew expecting the train to be about 6 inches long, big enough for a four year old to hold and paint. It's only like 2 or 3 inches. I ended up giving the train away and had to go in a different direction for him.
