My son is almost two and for the past several months he has loved playing with Melissa and Doug puzzles. They are bright, sturdy, and the chunky pieces are easy for him to manipulate. He has learned so many words from us playing with the puzzles together. This one is special in that it has textured material on each animal, but he hasn't really seemed to notice that much.

My 15-month old son loves this puzzle from Melissa and Doug. He loves how each animal has a different texture that he can touch and explore. He loves to try to imitate the animal sounds for each animal. The pieces are easy to take out and put in because they are large and slightly raised from the puzzle board. This puzzle will be fun for him for a long time as he learns to do it by himself. The pieces and board are also very durable and high-quality. So far, all Melissa and Doug toys and puzzles I have bought are great. I would recommend buying this puzzle as well as their deluxe wire puzzle storage rack.

Nothing is better than Melissa & Doug!! My 18 month old grandson loves the zoo and also loves touchy-feely so this is a perfect combination. Grandpa bought him a touchy-feely book and he will go 'read' it on his own, getting up in his mom's reading chair where she reads to him. I don't want to take the plastic covering off yet but I understand that once the puzzle piece is removed, there will be a picture of the animal underneath. How cute!! A wooden puzzle will last forever - this I remember from my own kids who are now 41 and 32. Can't wait to get this in the mail and hear how he enjoys it. From what I can feel through the covering the animals' skins are great, especially the alligator! Thanks Melissa & Doug and Amazon!!

My son got this puzzle for his first birthday and he loves taking the pieces out of the puzzle. We are still working on putting them back!

Just like picture, and came quickly...i love that it is a simple puzzle which I needed for my 18 month old and the textures are a GREAT bonus for her. She loves touching different textures so this was just perfect for her.

I bought this puzzle for my 9 1/2 month old. He doesn't take a whole lot of interest in it yet, but I think he will in the future. (The product details says the puzzle could be a choking hazard for children under 3- so I'll be sure to only let him play with supervision). The puzzle is very attractive with a cute design and great textures. My only complaint is that the lion has shed some tufts of hair. I don't want my baby to eat the hair. We've only had it a few days- so maybe there were just some loose hair chunks and no more will fall out (I hope.)

Melissa and Doug children's toys are the most durable. This "fee;" puzzle is great. The knobs are prefect for little hands. My 11 month old granddaughter just loved feeling the different textures. And, we learned about the names of the animals.

The puzzle is great for enhancing a child's motor skills and learning to relate shapes. Great puzzle and easy for little fingers. It teaches textures and the sense of touch. Fun and learning at the same time.

I got this puzzle for my son's 1st birthday. I was quite disapppointed he didn't match the nimals to their hole right away - but by 18 months, he had absolutely no trouble, it's actually super-easy. However, he liked the touch and feel of each animal since the beginning, and he still does and shows me their texture. The board has the image of the missing animal underneath the piece, for ease of matching. I'm overall glad I got him this puzzle, he loves it.
