This is a beautifully made puzzle that is a good challenge for 2 year olds. Under each piece there is a picture of the inside of the object (what's in the backpack, what's under the shirt, etc.) which is extra fun. The buttons, laces, zipper are large enough for little hands. It will take some time for the little ones to get the hang of completing the tasks, but it's time well spent and they'll feel great once they can do it. Wonderful for those who are beginning to want to dress themselves ("I'll do it myself!" they say, right?) Now, they have a way to practice those skills so they can feel successful. Highly recommend this!

I bought this for my son so he could learn the basics at his pace. He mastered all but the shoe in one day. Not only does it have the top pieces, but you can remove them to reveal a picture underneath. A great investment for anyone. My daughter will be able to learn form it too.

It's a GREAT skills puzzle! However, it doesn't fit in the puzzle holder made by the same company. All our others do and this one sits on tops. . .rather unfortunate.

My four year old son and two year old daughter both love the basic skills board. My son can do all of the activities, but especially likes the jacket. My daughter has more fun just taking the pieces out and putting them back in. Today she started playing with the laces on the shoes, so it was the perfect opportunity to teach her how to tie her own shoes. I highly recommend this toy for anyone with kids under five.

We bought 25 of these sight unseen for a grant project where elder citizens do storytimes in low income areas' daycare centers. They will be used over and over. The quality and sturdy quality of this item is excellent. The facts that they not only serve as very simple puzzles, but also provide small motor skill practice on dressing is useful and impressive. All of us working on the project were very pleased with this purchase.

In earlier reviews, I see that one familiy had problems with this puzzle, but I think that must have been an anomaly. We have 10 or more "Melissa and Doug" puzzles, and I think that they are the best.

I have a daughter that has significant motor delays, and these puzzles are unique, attractive and challenging for her. They provide just the right level of difficulty that is not overwhelming and keeps her engaged. Our other daughter has spent a lot of time with them as well.

Clearly, all special ed classrooms should have this and other "Melissa & Doug" toys. I think that they are great for everyone else, too!!

My granddaughter loves this skill board. She does not become frustrated because there are different levels of skill required depending on the item she's working on. Keeps her busy for quite a while.

This product is the best that I've seen for helping children to learn how to complete basic tasks. My sons and their friends can all play at once because the pieces are removable puzzle pieces! AND it is half the price as thoise dress-up dolls. This is the perfect skills builder for home and school!

This is supposed to be great for toddlers to learn to deal with closures found on clothing. However, the individual pieces do not stay in place because they are not stuck to the board beneath them.
This makes it frustrating for the child to use.

DO NOT BUY THIS PUZZLE FOR YOUR CHILD! MY DAUGHTER HAD THESE PUZZLE AND THE SCREWS HOLDING THE ITEMS TO THE WOOD BOARD COME APART. THEY ARE VERY SMALL SCREWS AND NUTS THAT I ACTUALLY FOUND IN MY DAUGHTERS MOUTH. I CONTACTED COMSUMERS AFFAIRS LAST YEAR ABOUT THIS PUZZLE AND I CAN NOT BELIEVE IT IS STILL ON THE MARKET. I AM ONLY WRITTING THIS SO THAT AS A PARENT YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO GO TO THE SCARE I DID.
