I bought this toy for my 3.5 year old, and she adores it. The beads are beautiful, and stringing them keeps her occupied for long periods of time. As far as the smell noted in another review, our beads smelled slightly of paint when we first opened the box. After a short time, however, they aired out completely. We have since given this gift to several friends and all have loved it. I think it's a great value, too.

Not suprisingly, this is an adorable product. My daughter owns the heart version and my niece has these butterfly ones. I didn't experience any strange paint smells out of either one of these, and I would highly recommend them to anyone. The only thing that could make these kits better is if they added a handful of letter beads, as I bought some seperately. -Nevertheless, a great toy for crafty kids. ;)

I've looked at different kinds of bead sets and tried a few, but this is the one that's actually considered a toy and not just a fashion accessory. Unlike other bead sets that create wearable necklaces but are rather frustrating to put together, this one is easy to thread even for little kids all by themselves and once they're done wearing it and playing with it, we dump the beads back in the box to play with again and again. There is a nice variety of colors (though not precisely what you see in the picture) and plenty of "pendants" and strings for multiple kids to play with at the same time.

I bought this bead set for my 4 year old granddaughter. She visits every weekend and in the month
that I have had them every time she is here we make a necklace for everyone in the family including
papa. With boy colors of course. Wonderful for small motor skills.

I bought this product, along with the one w/ letters and used it for my 4 yr old dtr's birthday party. It was a great activity, the girls loved it, and they also got to take home a new necklace (no cheesy party favors). I did not notice any smells when opening and I think the colors where bright and beautiful. My daughter now wants more bead sets.

My 2 year old loves the M&K farm animal beads that are geared for kids more her age. She is nuts about my jewelry and loves butterflies so when I saw these beads in a craft store, I grabbed them up. The package says 4 and up (obviously these are a choking hazard), but she's a pretty laid back kid who doesn't usually put things in her mouth. I supervised her carefully and only bring them out when we can sit together. However, I would watch her with these--even if she was older. Beads like thse can be really easy to spill even for an adult.

That said, it's not a problem. I didn't get these to keep her "busy" (we have other toys or give her chores for that ;) ). Stringing these beads is great for her hand/eye coordination, creativity, and self-esteem (she is proudly wearing her first beautiful necklace). She likes to count the beads and point out the colors to us (so at her age, this is strengthening her number and color skills). She can put the little ones on very easily, but needs a little help from me or my husband with the butterflies (they are a little tricky) but I'm sure she'll master them all in no time. :)

But the best part of all (for me) is watching her while she strings the beads together. It has been a wonderful bonding experience for us that brought back happy childhood memories of when my sister and I making jewelry at bead stores in Ithaca. I very much recommend this for butterfly-loving preschoolers or toddlers, and we will probably get other sets like it. :)

My daughter's love this bead set they love making necklaces for each other and for their friends at school. I love that this is a gift that they can receive and give to others. It's a good gift for Chirstmas.

I bought this set as a Christmas present for a five year old. She loved it and so did all the other children. Even her seven year old brother was making necklaces! :)

this was the perfect size for my 3 year old to get her started with beading. we plan on doing it for craft time. she loves doing things artsy and this will make her feel more independent bc she will be making it without much help. i get a little tired of cleaning up glitter glue and paint, so this will be a nice change. some bead sets have hundreds of beads. we might purchase those when she is older.

My nine year old really enjoyed making bracelets, necklaces and a key chain with this kit. She ran out of supplies pretty quickly, but she enjoyed the projects.
