These are fantastic toddler scissors -- they really do NOT cut hair/skin and seem to cut paper well. The zig-zag ones are a bit more challenging, but my 20 mo. old still likes them even though he ends up saying "blue better."

I bought this plastic scissor set for my 25 month old to start her out on cutting paper. The straight edged pair (blue ones) were so easy to use and it cuts clean lines. The only problem is the zig-zag pair ( red ones), the blades stick together and that makes it extremely difficult for me to cut with let alone my daughter, but it does cut pretty lines once you get it to work!

It's true that these don't cut fabric or hair. It's also true that they barely cut paper! And they sure can cut skin and tongues if you're not careful. The zig-zag ones are totally frustrating and not worth it, and the straight bladed ones only cut if I sit there and hold the paper taut for my son-- and he is using them correctly, holding them straight, etc. Even I have trouble using them well. If I have to sit there and assist in every minute of his cutting anyway, I'll just let him use real kid scissors that actually work, so we can both stop being frustrated. A great idea-- I really wanted to like these and the glitter is really cute-- but unfortunately a lemon.

Good
These scissors are good. My son loves them. He is learning how to use them and really loves the red ones. They cut good and do not cut hair (I tried!).

Not worth the money...
Of course they are safe, they don't cut anything - very frustrating for me to use and even more frustrating for my child. Unfortunately, M&D failed the test on these scissors.

Good purchase
Bought these for my 2.5 year old son. Although he can't quite use them yet, they have been a good introduction to scissors and I am sure he will pick it up soon!

Horrid
The blades are plastic and don't cut well. Should have heeded the other reviews. The jagged edges seem more dangerous than regular kids rounded scissors.
