i ordered this because my son showed interest in the one at a business i go to. i like the idea because it seems like an amazing developmental toy. i read a million reviews for a dozen or more sold on amazon. i was afraid it was going top be really small, and it would end up being thrown around. plus, one review said that melissa & doug toys had red paint with arsenic. i called melissa & doug customer service and was laughed at for such a ridiculous question- of course they don't put poison in their paint. so i went ahead and bought this one.
i received it yesterday and i am completely satisfied with my purchase. it is a very good size and the metal wires are extremely heavy duty, so they will not bend. my son is 7 1/2 months and hits on things, to move them i guess. it is heavy enough that he can't pick it up and throw it. i definitely give this 5 stars!!!

My 1 1/2 year old son loves this. When he first got it he would sit on the floor and play with it for 20-30 minutes! Great buy!

This was a gift to an elderly friend. She first played with one like this in doctor's office. Her gift was placed in common living area and she and her friends delight in finding ways to move the beads. HOME RUN!

Not sure how I feel about this toy. My 2 year old loves playing with it, but in the first 10 minutes of giving it to him he already had two splinters. Maybe the toy I was sent was not made properly. The poor kid should not be coming to me with splinters in his hands after just a few minutes of playing.

I do love the concept of this wooden toy and in the end decided to keep it for my LO. However, I think it is not acceptable to sell wooden toys for baby that do not have smoothly finished surfaces. There are multiple spots on the base where even the parents will very easily get a splint - the base looks like a fresh cut piece of wood that somebody forgot to finish with sandpaper after sawing. For this toy it is easy enough to fix in a couple of minutes with some sandpaper at home. Today I also went to a toy store and looked at some other items from Melissa & Doug (for example the car carrier) - again they look awesome from the distance and are really nice wooden toys but they all lack smooth surfaces. Very disappointing. I will not buy toys from this company in the future.

This was one of my favorite toys growing up, so I bought one for my 7-month-old twins. One of them loves it and moves the beads all around. The other one moves the beads around some, but gets bored quickly (just like with everything else, ha) and proceeds to try to pick it up, which he finds very entertaining. He hasn't been able to pick it up yet though, so it gets 5 stars all around. Highly recommend!
