We have had the treehouse for over a year and it has been constantly in use. The children (8 and 6) have used it as a base for pirates, little people, barbies, knights, and every other character in the house. Neighbor children come just to stage an adventure at the treehouse in the family room. It's a lasting, creative, open-ended piece of childhood!

This toy has been a great addition to my preschool classroom, the children love to use it. It's completely wooden with a real "tree" feel, which works great for my naturalistic program. The tree is also big enough for 3-4 children to use at the same time. However, on one occasion one of the children using the toy fell onto the stick that is intended for the tire swing to hang from, and it landed right below her eye leaving a nasty welt--a couple inches higher and it would have gone into her eye. I would strongly suggest removing that particular piece from the toy! We cut it off & hung the tire swing from the ladder, it's worked just fine. I'll be contacting the company to suggest making this a long term change!

Assembly was a bit difficult, but not terrible. All required hardware was included. Most Melissa and Doug toys can stand up to just about anything. This toy has taken a lot of abuse (as all toys do in a preschool environment!) and the base has stood up well. However, the swing fell apart within the first week & was impossible to repair, and the stairs jam on occasion. These are minor issues, compared to the overall quality of the toy, but should be taken into consideration. I looked at a number of options before purchasing this tree house, and feel that even despite these flaws this is still the best wooden tree house on the market.

My kids love this treehouse. Great for encouraging little imaginations. I love it because it's a nice-looking item (as opposed to some giant, plastic cheap-looking toy) and not an eye-sore in the family room.

I am a HUGE Melissa & Doug fan and have lots of their products but I am a bit disappointed with this item. The entire thing is a bit unstable - especially when any of the pulleys are used. Even if I hold the upper platforms while winding any of the pulleys, the entire upper portion of the tree-house wobbles about considerably (and nothing I can figure will resolve the problem - tightening base screws doesn't help!). Also, the dowel ends to insert the footbridge to the platform were not lined up, I had to force and make adjustments to make that happen. Finally, the staircase assembly simply DOES NOT line up with the second platform when it is pulled up. I am very handy, and again, no adjustments seem to be able to correct this.

Great concept, but a few things just "not quite right".

The toy comes with numerous "cool" details. The trap door, swing, movable stairs, and pulley system are all great fun for my grandson. What was NOT great fun was putting this together. First, a major piece was missing, which prevented the tree from being put together for my grandson in time for Easter. A big disappointment! Then, these have to be some of the WORST directions we have ever encountered. If it wasn't for the picture on the box, we would still be wrestling with it.The holes are not always drilled out completely, preventing the screws from going in. Also, it is not real stable. The one platform, which is separate from the rest, is wobbly. The stairs are supposed to be pulled up to the second story and kept there with the help of magnets. The platform moves, and the stairs drop down. Maybe if the magnets were stronger, it would help. But it is very frustrating for him when he plays with this aspect of the toy.There should have been another piece to anchor the platform in place and keep it from moving. I can see that this part would be broken easily if any pressure was placed on it. We may have to do some gluing and supporting to keep this toy from being broken.

My daughter is five years old and has a great imagination and absolutely loves this tree house. She will have many years of play, and use of her imagination and development. This is such an amazing play item and would recommend it to any parent to purchase. It's taller than my daughter and she's 43" tall and plays for hours on end. It was a christmas present, thank ~ you Melissa and Doug for creating such wonderful toys, also to create and celebrate on the excellent pricing of this item, it's very hard to find and quite pricey if you don't do searching on the net. $68.00 was a steal of a price for such a well made item.

I am a woman who is not handy when it comes to assembling items, but I managed to put this together for my son's birthday in 45 minutes. The only problem I had was that I was missing one screw (which I either lost in all the wrappings or wasn't included) Melissa and Doug customer service took care of that for me. I do not think the tree house is unstable at all. Everything lined up as it should when the pieces were assembled correctly (which I admit took me two or three tries until I got the hang of it) But I think this is a wonderful toy that my son will spend a lot of time with--either with the included people, with his plastic animals, Playmobil people, etc. I am very satisfied with my purchase!
