5.0 out of 5 stars Alphabet puzzle, February 4, 2007
By
This review is from: Melissa & Doug Fish Colors, ABC and Numbers Wooden Mix 'n Match Peg Puzzle Bundle (Toy)
We only have the alphabet puzzle, but my almost 2 year old loves it. She has a lot of patience, and will do th epuzzle 6 or 7 times in one sitting. There are a lot of little pieces that try to get lost, but I think this is a great intro to letters. She has started to say 2 or 3 of the letters because we talk about them as she puts them into the puzzle. I didn't realize that this would be her favorite of all the puzzles we have.

My now 2 1/2 year old son has loved all of these puzzles for over a year now; once mastering the concepts, he still plays with them but uses them differently. For example, now we mix up the fish puzzles and he giggles, and rearranges them correctly. We also made up a game of "I spy" with the fish colors. He picks out a fish then finds all the things in the room that are that color. The Alphabet letter puzzle has now been missing the "Q" for quite some time but remains a favorite. Now he mentions all the things he can think of that start with that letter he chose. Bottom line; toddlers will use fine motor skill development learning to place the objects correctly and once mastered, will continue to enjoy by using cognitive skills with these when challenged. Wonderful, educational, durable toys!

5.0 out of 5 stars Teaching puzzles at a variety of levels, May 7, 2007

Our son is just about 1 1/2 and loves puzzles right now. In this bundle, there are 2 that are great for his level. The alphabet, while he's highly motivated to identify letters, is still a little difficult because there are so many pieces--but it will be great to grow into shortly as he continues to develop. The other two are perfect for his current readiness. Love the wooden puzzles-- durable. These are great too because they have the pegs that are perfect for toddler grasping.
