My 4.5 year old daughter and I have spent considerable time playing these games (with the exception of Rummy -- the enclosed game instructions are a bit cryptic to me, but then I've never played Rummy). The only thing I would say about this product is the storage of the cards. I have purchased many Melissa & Doug toys over the past few years and it seems their products come contained in wooden boxes. So when the description of the product on Amazon said "set of three boxed games," I assumed they'd be in wooden boxes. Rather, the cards are within flimsy cardboard boxes which, needless to say, have fallen apart at the edges and ends. No biggie and it doesn't detract from the fun of these cards.... I just keep the tape handy to patch it up.

These are fine cards. The kids love playing with them. The only educational aspect is matching, and taking turns, so they are just for fun. Some of the fish in the go fish game look to much alike for my 4 year old to tell them apart without help. But other then that we haven't had any problems with them.

We bought these card games for our 5 year old for Christmas. We all enjoy playing the games, especially go fish. Even my 3 1/2 year old plays. The cards are big so they make holding them difficult for little hands but they have been pretty durable as far as cards go. Classic, entertaining games.

My daughter loves the card games. They come in nice boxes to store the cards. They are larger than regular cards and tons of fun play. They have very vibrant colors animals, letters and numbers that make it even more fun for your child. They help them learn. A great toy.

The cards are very nicely done but, no one, let alone a 3-year old, could ever hold such huge cards in their hands. After I received these cards in the mail, I went to our local toy store and bought cards for $.99 cents in order for them to fit into my 6- and 8-year old grandchildren's hands. I would not recomment this product...cards are extremely large.

I like the Melissa and Doug products, and when Christmas shopping I stumbled upon this three pack of card games. These are classic games that kids will enjoy. The cards are durable, large, and well illustrated. The drawbacks include the recommended ages. It is recommended for ages three and up; however, the games (especially animal rummy) were too complicated for my three year old who has to have an adult help her play. The large cards are suppose to be easy for small hands; however, in my experience, it is actually harder for my child to hold all of the large cards in her small hands at once. I would wait and purchase this product when your child is older - maybe closer to five. I still like the cards, and we will play with them as a family.

What great brain trust would think that "jumbo cards are perfect for little hands"?
Luckily they were cheap, or I'd be sending them all back. Now it's just not worth the trouble. My 7 year old granddaughter needs to lay the cards on the table in front of her just to see what all she has, and it's impossible to play the games.
I'm now looking for "normal size" or "small size for little hands". Stupid idea!

I bought the Melissa & Doug Animal Card Games Set to have at my house when my granchildren come to
vist me. The cards are very sturdy, very colorful, and just the right size. They help the children with their colors, numbers, matching skills and it has really been a lot of fun for me and for them. I would recommend these cards to everyone who has children or grandchildren.

I bought these cards for my two boys(5 and 3) for Christmas. The oldest plays well however it is too difficult for my three year old yet. I don't see how such big cards are easier to hold for little hands or for the childrens card holders but I do appreciate that they are wipeable. All in all another good product from Melissa and Doug.

I bought these for my 4-year-old son who loves card games. His old cards were ragged (which kinda gives Old Maid away) and had some missing, so my husband and I searched and found these. They looked okay in the picture but nothing spectacular, so we ordered thinking they would "serve their purpose." When they arrived and we opened them, they were sturdy and CUTE!! The picture does not do the colors justice! Everytime we play with them I remark how NICE these cards are! They are also larger then a normal playing card which is perfect for my little ones (2, 4, 6, and 7). They rummy requires a little more skill than my 2 or 4-year-old boys have but is a perfect challenge for my 6 and 7-year-old girls. They are quality cards at a good price! Wonderful buy!
