My daughter just turned two and through the use of these puzzles and our encouragement, she can recognize all the letters and numbers and will bring them to us and tell us "it's a 'y' mama." We're working now, on counting the items underneath each number and doing "A for Apple". She's having so much fun and learning so much all at the same time.

I'd recommend any puzzles by Melissa and Doug. Our son loves them. He has mastered them all. We own over 20 puzzles like this, and he just has a blast with them. He just turned 2.

The description mentions 3 puzzles, but only two are ever shown or discussed. The letters and numbers are great, but I am excited to find that it also comes with a fish puzzle for learning colors. We already owned this particular puzzle; however, my younger daughter "ate" the fish tails, so it is a wonderful surprise to find we have a replacement puzzle.

Melissa and Doug toys are excellent. The one time I have had to call customer service, they were wonderful and sent out the piece that had been missing from our magnet set.

I bought this puzzle set for my 2 1/2 year old. The quality is excellent and daughter has enjoyed this toy since day one. I would definitely recommend this. A great way to start learning the alphabet and numbers.

With promises of all-wood construction, why do the tops of these puzzle pieces have colored paper glued onto them instead of paint directly applied to the wood? I love Melissa and Doug products. HOWEVER, do not let your child put one of the puzzle pieces in his or her mouth b/c the colored portion of the piece will quickly wear away.

I purchased these puzzles for 7 year old twins that I am adopting. They do not speak English and use a different alphabet. These puzzles will be fun and perfect for helping them to learn. They are bright, cheerful, and very durable. I purchased puzzles just like these several years ago for my daughters. They absolutely loved them. They were then passed down to my niece and nephew and are still in great shape. I know they hold up and I know they work. Both of my daughters could recognize their numbers, letters, and colors at 18 months of age! I am confident they will be just as effective for my twins.

My 1.5 yr old loves these puzzles! I especially like how the fish are interchangeable, which made it easier for him at first. Nice and colorful and made exceptionally well with good thick pieces. Overall GREAT PRODUCT!

Some of the letters and numbers can be placed on each other so it gets confusing for my 20 month old. In reference to the colors, wish they were slightly different for each color so that it does not give a false positive by fitting. Overall it is still a good learning toy and Melissa and Doug produce great stuff in general.

I bought this toy for my 17 month old son. He loves it !!! At this stage he is more interested in taking all pieces away from puzzle rather than putting it back together. Couple of concerns I have with this toy are - 1. I noticed painted surfaces peeling off after little rough use, the shapes of letters does not real shapes of them, most of them are kind of sqaures.

My two year old daughter likes to play with it but the quality of this puzzle is just okay.
It's not thick as I thought and the size of each piece is little smaller than paved board.
And the shapes of fish puzzle pieces are all identical & in small sizes.
If I buy more puzzles for my kid, I will try a different brand next time.
