I got this for 2 kids, 1 boy & 1 girl and they love it. this castle is great. it has a trap door that leads to the dungeon. the drawbridge goes up and down. the castle opens up so more than one child can easly play. this is a must for any child.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing for M&D
I bought this for my son's third birthday. He is totally into knights, dragons, and castles. But this castle was disappointing, particularly concerning all the great reviews. First, it came in a large box, marked "Made in China". This castle is very expensive for a cheap China made toy, in my opinion. I did not open it, and instead wrapped it for my son's birthday. My 6 y.o. son loves this castle. Ideally, smaller figures fit the doorways and archways but my son plays with his Schleich and Pago figures and it works because the castle is so big. It is well-made and the fold in/out feature makes it nice for storage.

There is a loose half tower that is great for play but it has been dropped several times. Nothing that should discourage you from buying it.

This is one of the best prices I have seen on these castles. Shipping was very fast and arrived well-packed.

Highly recommend this toy.

We (Santa and I) got this for my 4 year old daughter this christmas. She was very excited, but actually I think a little overwhelmed but that comes from getting all the toys. My 22 month old likes to sit right in the middle and move his guys around. The 4 year old really likes to be able to have it open or closed and have someone come to the gate. I like the lack of sharp corners, stability, reasonable price and foldability. Here it is 4 months later and she still plays with it and it is not broken. Now if I could just be sure there was no lead paint on it I would really be impressed.

I was going to buy the Schleich castle for my son for Christmas and decided it was way too much money by the time you bought all the pieces. Decided to buy this castle and I am really happy I did so. It is very durable and my son loves it. You can take it anywhere. It folds so easily that we just put it in the car if we go visit Nana, for example. You can put all your Knights right in the middle once it is folded. I love it. It's not too big but it's not small either. It's the perfect size. My son has the Schleich Knights and they fit perfectly. Would recommend to anyone!

When he opened it, the top of one of the towers had broken off. One tower comes separate from the castle, but this one was definitely broken off - I can see the glue of where it was glued together. Second, the drawbridge doesn't really work. I have to crank it hard to get it to stay in the up position, otherwise it just unrolls. My son can't get it to stay in the up position. There's not a way to fix this without breaking it apart at the seems.
It really looks like somthing I could have fashioned out of a kit from a hobby store. Except I would have made more interactive parts to it. They could have added hinges to a couple places and made more hiding places.
A week after getting this, we went to the store to buy a toy with money from his grandparents. He picked out Fisher-Price Imaginext Dragon World Fortress Castle. It's cheaper. Its also smaller. Buy he plays with it far more then this one.
I also think the figurines that you can buy with it are cheaply made. I've hidden them away because I'm afraid my toddler would choke from a part falling off.

We've had this less than a year. The drawbridge will no longer stay up. Another piece broke off. It's being donated to charity. Way too expensive for a toy that didn't even last a year with minimal play.

My son wanted a castle for Christmas, and I wanted a castle that wouldn't fall apart by the New Year. This castle is built to be played with by kids, and to withstand the abuse of their toddler syblings. It's not a dark and dreary color, and it's not all cutesy pink and purple, so it's great for boys or girls. My son loves it for his soldier figurines, and my daughter loves it for her princess figurines. A great toy!

This is a great wooden toy. When I took this castle (along with some tubes of knights) to a Renaissance event it kept quite a few children highly entertained. The only problem we had with it was that the drawbridge didn't close all the way so it didn't want to stay up (darn that gravity) but I think it can be sanded down a bit so that it closes all the way.

I've had mixed feelings about Melissa and Doug toys that we have purchased in the past. Some have literally fallen apart just after purchase. That being said.... I was really happy with the castle that we bought our four year old for Christmas. The shipping was fast, the packaging was durable and the castle arrived in perfect condition. After three months of play, the castle is holding up very well. My son loves to play with his knights, animals, and even his dinosaurs in conjunction with the castle. It has been dropped, sat on, and given the four-year-old stamp of approval. He loves the movable tower, the trap door leading to the dungeon, and the stairs. I love that it is made on wood and doesn't have a million little pieces to keep track of. We tend to use the castle as storage for all the horses, knights, etc. when it is folded up. Lots of imaginative play involved with this toy - and no batteries to buy!

My children love this castle. I bought it for my 2yr old son but my 4 yr old daughter loves it just as much & has informed me she wants a castle in her room too. The Schleich/Pappo knights do not fit in the doors, it's true. But, that did not stop us from buying them. He can put them on the parapets and still play with them on the castle. We also bought a tube of knights/horses/dragon/catapult from potterybarnkids for $12 and those are tiny and fit perfectly in the doors/trapdoor/dungeon of the castle. The castle is sturdy; I have zero complaints with its sturdiness. The children step on it in an attempt to get over to the other side & no damage has been inflicted yet. I love that it opens so that they can actually get in there and play. Although, my son loves to sit in the middle of it when it's closed and play like that too. I, personally, love that the drawbridge can actually be raised and lowered by using a knob. I am glad every day that I bought this for him for Christmas because they play with it, and love it, every day.
