My two and a half year old daughter will sit and put these puzzles together for quite a long time. I only had to help her a few times before she learned how to do it herself. The storage boxes are very convenient and keep everything neat and tidy. The box also acts as a little desk to put the puzzle together. I would buy more of these puzzles.

The first few times I brought out these puzzles, the kids weren't really sure what to do. But now that they have the hang of them, they love them! My daughter has even figured out how to sort them back into their puzzle box (each puzzle has a different shape on the back for easy clean up).

I love how everything can be stored neatly in the box.

My twins just turned 3, to give you a better idea on their age.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my 2 and 3 year olds. It is a little advanced for my 2 year old, but my 3 year old loves it and plays with it almost every day. They are true jig-saw puzzles, so they are challening, but small enough that they aren't too hard. My 2 year old did chew on one and it stood up to her pretty well.

My daughter has been doing these since she was 18 months old. She is now 3 and still loves them. She is incredibly analytical and loves puzzles of all kinds. They were a great way to build up to bigger puzzles. At first she would just do them separate, but now I pour the whole box out and she does them no problem. At 3 she now does 300 piece puzzles. Don't be afraid to introduce these sooner than the recommended age. Well made. My box lid did come warped and that is seriously my only complaint. These will last through all my kids.

Update 12/5/14
My second child, a boy, just turned 2 yrs old. I introduced these two months ago. He brings them in to my work area almost everyday and sits down and works on them with me. It is a ravorite toy for sure!!! Between both my kids they have been played with a couple hundred times and still look brand new. We now own almost the compete sets of all the 4puzzle box Melissa and Doug puzzles. They are the perfect sized pieces for a young child's hand.

My children loves these puzzles. They are easy to store as well. Unfortunately, the paper has started to peel off. The puzzles are just not well made.

Bought a few of these for my 4yr old daughter for Xmas. She loves them, they are complicated enough that it takes her a few times, but not so complicated she gives up on it.

The quality of wood is exceptional for the price and you get multiple puzzles. I highly recommend this product for age groups 3-6.

I ordered this when my oldest was 2. She was a little young for it then, but she loved it when she as 3 and 4. The puzzles are challenging enough to be a learning experience but have few enough pieces that most kids won't be frustrated.

The puzzle survived through my eldest and my middle child, and is still in great shape for when my youngest turns three. All three of the kids like the bright and non-cartoony pictures of the animals. We have fun counting the legs, talking about which animals are biggest, which have stripes, which has the longest tail, etc.

The storage box is great. The one we got was quite stiff at first; we had to sand it down to get it to slide in and out easily, but once we did that, we really appreciated the box. I see it as being threefold awesome: the top is just the right size, and with raised edges, to complete one of the puzzles in. It is very sturdy and has stood the abuse of three kids. It is also perfectly sized. The divided compartments provide ample space to house the 12 pieces of each puzzle, but they are compact enought that the box has quite a small storage footprint.

I would recommend this product, and other similar Melissa and Doug puzzles, to anyone with kids in the 3-5 range.

Decent puzzle, but has the same problem that many of today's puzzle manufacturers have when making puzzles for toddlers- the pieces aren't cut with the same color next to each other. So a toddler who is looking for clues to match a blue water piece with another adjoining piece blue water piece will have difficulty finding that. Instead you have pieces that have a hodge-podge of blue water, a snipit of elephant leg, brown dirt, and a toddler cant decipher that as well as a later year preschooler. Obviously, a computer cuts these puzzles now, not a human who is thinking about how a toddler will look for an image to put together.

This is the first puzzle my granddaughter has received that does not have a picture underneath as a guide. I wanted her to have a challenge and she loved it. I spent some time on Christmas Day helping her to solve the puzzles and she put them together over and over again. She is also very careful to put the pieces in the correct compartment and to slide the cover in place. This puzzle design makes it easy to keep the pieces where they belong. I thought the size and the design was fantastic!

My daughter is obsessed with puzzles. We bought this for a lot of children as Christmas presents for using in the car. They all love it. It is a great idea. The puzzle is small, and can be kept on the lap. There are four different puzzles inside, with coding on the back, as to which puzzle it belongs to.

My only complaint is the wood box, which holds the pieces, is hard for my two year old to slide open and closed. I am sure she will be able to open it soon, and then will truly be able to play with this without assistance.
