My son loves these pots and pans and has a great time playing with them. My one complaint is that the red paint rubs off on any other wooden food we have, especially the light colored stuff. So now a lot of our other food has red marks on it that I can't get off. It doesn't bother my son at all, but it kind of bugs me that a lot of his new stuff is now marked up.

My daughter received this set for her birthday. It's a nice weight, and a cute design. But my biggest complaint is that the red paint comes off easily. My daughter has been playing with this set so far for two weeks and the paint is chipping off the bottom of the pan.
I haven't noticed the paint coming off onto things, but it is alarming that the paint is chipping off already.

A must have for children that love the kitchen and imagination. The sturdy wooden construction is perfect for drops and rough handling. Our three yr old has "made" everything in these and literally has had hours of fun.

I purchased this set as part of a larger Chritmas gift (I got my daughter a play kitchen set). Two years later she still constantly plays with it. Because it is wooden there are no sharp pieces that I have to worry about and it is pretty darn durable. There are a few nicks in the paint but that is all by way of damage in two years. It has been a great addition to her imaginary play as well. I see her using the pot as a prison for resin figures, the pan has housed a lake for boats and whatnot. She likes having the kitchen mitts that look like ones I own so she can bake like Mommy. I don't think you would regret purchasing this toy.

We purchased these pots and pans for our 2 year old for Valentines Day to go along with the Melissa and Doug Kitchen he received for Christmas. They are a perfect compliment to the kitchen and he plays with them everyday. All of our friends can't believe how tough and sturdy the pans are - really a great product.

I WAS NOT SURE ABOUT WOODEN PLAY TOYS FOR YOUNG CHILDREN BECAUSE THEY CAN HIT EACH OTHER WITH THEM, BUT THEY LOVED THEM AND THEY ARE DURALBE TO THE ROUGH TREATMENT OF THREE YEAR OLD

These pots and pans were purchased for my 4 year old and 2 year old grand-daughters. They absolutely love them. They have a play kitchen stove and these fit nicely on it. The pots and pans are very sturdy and viturally indestructible; not like metal or plastic ones.

These are not very durable. After less than a year of use, the paint on all the cookware has bubbled and flaked off in big chunks. The pots aren't solid wood but wood composite made of presswood material. So after some rough and tumble, that starts to disintegrate - causing the paint to come off. These are pots & pans, Melissa and Doug, how hard is it to just make little wooden pots and pans and paint them red? Pass on these.

i have two boys (4 and 2.5) who absolutely LOVE all their melissa and doug food toys. this is one of many items that we've ended up getting them because they're still obsessed with making every visitor lunch, dinner, dessert and everything in between. they've even forgotten all about the previous reward of a purchased tv show (on itunes) at the end of a good week (we use the melissa and doug magnetic responsibility chart which they also LOVE) and have decided that it's worth the wait to accumulate enough to buy a new food toy. for their age and energy level i find this to be pretty amazing :)

i'm also finding that my VERY VERY picky oldest son is actually trying new things to eat because he is so fascinated by the act of cooking. i feel like i'm a melissa and doug addict at this point! i would say the only down side is that they started getting their toys made over in china instead of the US like before, but so far i haven't been disappointed by the quality and the only food set that has been more plastic than i was hoping was the ice cream parlor set, but (knock on wood) they haven't demolished it yet, so i am sticking with 5 stars for all the sets we have so far!!! :)

Nice quality and size, my only beef is that the pot holder is very big for little hands and doesn't have a loop on it to hang it in her kitchen.
