Step back in time with this classic, the Three Pigs, and bring on the fun! The chubby pigs are the perfect size for a toddler's hand to squeeze and let out a squeak. They can hide in their color-matched soft homes with plenty of doors and windows to open and close to teach early prepositions like "in," out," " back" and "front." Kids love to stuff the big bad wolf (and all the pigs for that matter) down the chimney and watch him magically appear inside the house. Carry on little conversations with your pigs as your toddler chooses one to speak for too.

As a speech pathologist with Play on Words, I look for toys that have a lot to describe. Babies and toddlers' receptive language (understanding) has been outpacing their expressive language (actually saying words) as they hear and store new vocabulary words. But at 1 ½ years, they are entering the stage of their "vocabulary explosion" when they can actually learn several new words a day. As you are playing with your child and describing her action with the toy, your job is a lot easier when there is a lot to describe in terms of texture, sounds, color, size, and shape. Point out the straw, stick and brick houses, shiny, smooth and soft surfaces, big, little and medium--sized houses, match the colored houses to the pigs and talk about shapes.

My one year old daughter received this as a gift. While she is younger than the recommended age, she is having a great time with it. She likes moving the pigs into the houses, and the wolf down the chimney. She loves to hear the story and watch while the pigs are moved and the houses are blown down. Her 3 1/2 year old brother is throughly enjoying it as well. We also love that the houses and characters all stack inside each other, so it isn't very big to store.

My 15 month old received this for Christmas and was not interested in it at all. However, my 3.5 year old can not get enough of it. I would have thought it too young for him, but apparently not. He acts out the 3 little pigs, he stuffs all kinds of things in the houses, he plays with the pigs in the bath, he organizes it all how it came. It has become one of his favorite toys.

Buy this toy. Seriously. I bought this toy for my two year old son to play with on a 5 hour plane ride. We skipped his nap (assumed he'd fall asleep on the plane, and of course, he didn't) so he was a mess towards the end of the flight. I pulled out this magical gem (he'd never seen it before!), and he was entertained for a good half hour or more. He put all the pigs in the houses, took them out, shoved them into the chimney, in the windows. Stuffed the houses inside of each other. Squeaked the pigs (yes, they squeak, but not loud enough to annoy other plane passengers). We made the pigs walk, hop, run, roll across the tray table. And eventually, I told him the story and we acted it out. The pigs are color-coded and have numbers to match their houses. My boy is very into that. And it was one more thing to talk about that would take up 2-3 minutes of travel time. (Every minute counts!) I especially loved it because 1-it's squishy; you can mash it into a carry on; 2-It's pretty basic, which is a nice change from blinking lights and buttons, or noisy toys that you can't have on an airplane. 3-All the pieces fit into the large red house which has a handle on top. So when we were frantically trying to clean up our area after the plane landed, this was already all intact with no piggies rolling down the aisles.

I would definitely recommend this for any type of travel. I had no idea if my son would like this, but I purchased it based on the reviews and couldn't have been more pleased. I kept turning to my husband saying, "Look at him playing! Look how much he likes this!" I've kept it hidden, so that it's a fun "newish" toy for our next trip.

My 4 year old nephew loved this. He would reenact the entire THREE LITTLE PIGS story for me from start to finish several times before saying "OK, time to put away." Yes, it got a annoying when he did it the third of fourth time, but its definitely worth it.

This is an extremely cute toy. The little pigs, all color coordinated with their respective houses and numbers on their chests from smallest to biggest, are adorable. The pigs squeak when squeezed, the only thing that my son seems to like about this toy. Now, I refuse to hold that against this set. Possibly my son is too young for this toy, having received it for his first Christmas? Maybe he just simply doesn't like it? However, I can see where it could be a very engaging little toy. Though I haven't tried washing the houses yet, I love the fact that they can go in the washing machine. Having 5 dogs and all the dog hair that goes along with them, having a toy that can be thrown in the washing machine is a dream. My complaint with the toy? One of the little pigs came with the paint chipped off a part of his belly which is only getting worse with time, even though my son really doesn't play with them. Aside from that, the set seems quite durable.

Toddler likes the pigs/wolf, but not the houses. You can't really put the pigs into a house because they fall out the back window.
