The manufacturer suggests an age range of 3 years and up, but I gave my son these puzzles when he was 22 months old and he figured them out pretty quickly. Two months later, he's still fascinated by them. He now has the vehicle puzzle set and the construction puzzle set and spends long periods of time every day assembling and then re-jumbling them.

There are many levels of play possible with these puzzles. At first, I put the puzzles together while he watched. Soon, he was putting one puzzle together, after I'd separated the pieces of only that one puzzle out for him. Then he started breaking up all four 12-piece puzzles, jumbling up all 48 total pieces and assembling them again. Then he became fascinated with putting the puzzle pieces away in their little compartments. He's so proud of mastering these skills that he shows them off to every visitor. And now that he's memorized the puzzles, he puts them together as fast as I can!

Even if you think jigsaw puzzles might be a little hard for your toddler, I encourage you to try these. The feeling confidence the little ones get from understanding and mastering them is a great boost for them -- and their parents!

This puzzle set, and the others offered, are great for my just-turned-two- year-old. He loves the pictures, and after a little guidance at the beginning, was mastering the puzzles rather rapidly. Now he enjoys noticing how to sort the different pieces to understand which one goes with which puzzle.
The puzzles are seem very durable too, wood pieces in a wood box. We will see how they hold up over the years for the next child, as we have only had them 2 weeks! I also love that the puzzle can be assembled on the lid.
Overall, I am very impressed with these puzzles and will definately buy more for friends and family (we already bought 4 different ones for our son, which shows how much we liked them).

My 3 year-old son got this for Christmas. He asks to play with it every other day or so. It's not too difficult for him, but he does need help. I like that the pieces all store in the box, so they don't get lost. The markings on the back make it easy to sort out which pieces go to which puzzle. There are only 12 pieces per puzzle, so it doesn't take too long to put all 4 together. We also love that you can use the lid of the box to put the pieces together on, rather than having to use the floor or a table. For the price and the variety, it's a perfect puzzle for a preschooler.

Just like the other reviews, we love these. I added a video to show a little tweak we did that helped our younger kids learn to use it faster.

All you need is a fine point Sharpie and about 10 minutes. As you'll see in the video, it makes a great product even better.

Our 3 year old loves these puzzles. He has put them together and taken them apart several times! They are a light weight wood and are very sturdy. We also have the ocean set and the construction set. They are a great quiet toy.

My 3 yr-old grandson loves puzzles and transportation, whether it be trains, buses, cars,etc... I thought this would be a good buy because of this, but it is a bit too small and the pieces aren't raised so he can't grab them as easily. Right now he's a bit young for them, but I think, as he gets older he will enjoy them. They are not what I expected. I have to read descriptions more thoroughly.

I bought this four puzzle box for my three year old cousin. He loved it. The four puzzle parts are separated into four squares underneath the top of the box, and the wooden top serves as a platform to put a puzzle together. If all of the puzzle pieces are mixed up...it's okay...each puzzle part has a symbol on the back to help you separate the four puzzles. For instance, (I don't remember which symbols matched which puzzle) a square will be on the back of all the puzzle pieces for the train, a triangle will be on the the backs of the bus pieces, etc. What's cool about this, is that you can turn all the pieces over and have your child separate as to symbol, then turn the pieces over and put the puzzle together, and also try to have your child put the puzzle together from the reverse--without the picture--just using the shapes and symbols on the back of the pieces.

I run a family childcare home and was looking for puzzles for the 2 year olds to transition to after the wooden peg puzzles so I ordered these. I like that they come in their own wooden box with dividers inside and that the puzzles themselves are small. The 2 year olds love them because they're easier to work with than the larger puzzles with more pieces. There are four puzzles total and the backs of the puzzle pieces are stamped with shapes so that the kids can easily identify and sort. The kids love dumping them and simply sorting the puzzle pieces. Definetely a great buy especially for the money.

I am a speech pathologist working with preschool children. Today I used these puzzles as as cooperative activity for two children, meaning each child was given half of the pieces and had to request the others. The children loved the puzzles and worked well together. I then asked them to put the pieces away by sorting the shapes on the back. They did this, then I closed the top, perhaps forcing it a bit. I didn't realize that there is space at the top of the box where the pieces can slide. As a result, one piece became stuck and the box was extremely difficult to open. I solved the problem by inserting a piece of cardboard on top of the puzzle pieces.
