...and they are working out great with our Thomas Layouts. Melissa & Doug products continue to impress me with their high quality and typically provide great educational value. These are educational and your children will learn things like Police Station, Fire Station, Hospital, School, Town Hall, Grocery Store, and Post Office. There are several different shapes too, including squares, rectangles, triangle, and the various signs. The buildings and most of the roof pieces only have the building design on one side. The trees, ambulance, fire truck, and mail truck are large and double sided. The various street signs, and passenger cars are a little small, and as the box states ages 3+ and up, I would consider these smaller pieces a choking hazard. The larger pieces are enjoyed by both my 1 yr old and my 3 yr old. The rectangles are the largest piece in the set and measure 4 3/4 by 2 1/4" approx. Squares are roughly 2 1/4 x 2 1/4". These blocks are not as heavy as I expected, but still nicely made, and bright colorful additions to playsets like Thomas/Brio train sets. If your children don't insist on the real thing, this is a great way to save some money and still buy a quality product.

The only drawback is the wooden storage box doesn't come with a sliding plexi cover like the Melissa & Doug pizza set or beading set does. That would be really nice for storage and secure those little pieces that we don't use.

This company really surprised me: When, at first, I had a complaint about my order, they immediately responded and sent a replacement order without a return request for my previous order. Instead they asked that I donate the previous order to charity. I was pleased with the promptness of their response to my complaint, their immediate action to rectify the situation and their social responsibility in their request to donate the unwanted item to charity. They are an exemplary company in my book.

I received this today--in perfect condition, thank you Amazon shipping!--and am very pleased with it. The paint colors are bright and there are lots of pieces. Several buildings look like they could be arranged in different ways, thanks to the thick blocks that stack together and go alongside each other to form them.

I count 6 traffic signs, something I particularly wanted. The vehicles are as attractive as the buildings--very attractive. And it all fits in a nice wooden box with handles. I like it!

I bought this set for my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter. We are both very happy with the set. It has many pieces, they are very nicely painted large wooden pieces. This set will last forever. I highly recommend it, it will be something a child will enjoy for many years.

I bought this set for my daughter as a gift when she was 2. She loved it, immediately started playing with it. She's about to turn 6, and still plays with it often. It goes well with her Thomas the Tank Engine and Brio train tracks and trains. Sometimes we get up in the morning to find she's pulled the town out, set it up, and is setting up animals and dinosaurs as the town's inhabitants.

This is a great toy for kids of all ages. It gets played with very frequent in our child care facility. It is made very well, but some of the blocks will chip a little in time. Of course, this may not happen in a home environment. Would recommend it.

After purchasing two large sets of the Melissa & Doug wooden unit blocks we bought this toy as an addition and the kids all love it. There are many pieces and my two children (1 year & 7 years), my 3 nephews (3, 5 and 10 years old) spend hours playing with them. It was a great investment that has even withstood the beating that my 5 daycare kids have given it.

my 2 yr old son loves this toy! he plays with it more than any other birthday gift, and he got a lot of toys!

I purchased the 53 piece wooden town for my grandchildren to have as a quiet activity when they visit. The 2 year olds played with the houses; the 3 yr olds built a community, and the dads built the entire town once the kids went down for their naps!!! I expected and recieved a creative, high quality, colorful toy! Well pleased with all Melissa and Doug products.

I love Melissa and Doug products and thought this would be a fun way to use blocks with my 2.5 year old with trains or her play rug. She is still not old enough to enjoy them in my opinion. They are getting damaged just from taking them out and putting them away. We are going to save them for when she is older. From an adult perspective, I still think they are cute and full of possibilities, we will see how my daughter feels in a few months.
