Large Surface Area for Multiple Activities

With a large 50-inch-by-32-1/2-inch (L x W) surface area, the Multi-Activity Table offers a spacious platform for a variety of activities. Its 16-inch height is conveniently sized for young children, making it easy for them to access the table while either kneeling or sitting on the floor. The table is ideal for putting together a puzzle, assembling arts and crafts, or playing a game. The generously sized play surface allows two kids to play separate activities at the same time.

To make clean up and storage easy, the table features a jumbo-sized drawer on the side that can store games, art supplies, and other playtime accessories.

Sturdy Wooden Construction Ensures Lasting Play

The Multi-Activity Table is made of lightweight yet sturdy wooden particle board. The green tabletop surface is made of two removable, double-sided plyboard pieces. Each piece has a small hole to grip for easy removal.

In addition to being an environmentally friendly choice, the table's materials are durable enough for even the most rambunctious child. With safety in mind, the table's edges and corners are sanded and rounded to protect kids.

Assembly and Setup

Assembling the Melissa & Doug Deluxe Wooden Multi-Activity Table took our testers approximately one hour to complete. The instructions are easy to understand, with large illustrations and light text offering guidance where necessary. While a single adult can manage the table's assembly alone, it helps to have two adults to assemble some of the larger sections.

Despite the relatively straightforward nature of assembly, our testers did encounter some issues. Some of the pre-drilled holes and pre-cut pieces were challenging to align, requiring strong hands to force into place. When assembly is complete, the drawer can be difficult to open and close. However, once assembled, the table provides a broad, stable area that offers ample play space.

My two-year-old daughter was playing with her trains on the dining room floor before we got this table. We were all constantly stepping on pieces, having to redo the track layout, etc. Now she can play for quite a while without wreaking "butt-zilla" havoc by sitting on everything.

She does sometimes still sit on the table next to the track, but the table is sturdy enough to hold her 30 lbs. just fine. And when she takes the track apart, at least the pieces are enclosed rather than being scattered all over the floor.

No need to buy the brand name (Thomas) tables...this one is so much less expensive and still solid. The drawer is also quite deep and long to store the rest of her train set accessories. We have several Melissa and Doug wooden toys and so far we've had no construction issues with them. With that said, there was one screw through one of the beams that hold the table top up that never really went in to the table edge. Like I said, though, it still holds plenty of weight.

Once she outgrows the train phase I'm sure she will still enjoy using clay, a dollhouse, or something else on it.

Note that it is quite large--about 48" x 32"--so don't get it if you don't have room for it. We chose this one to accomodate her train set. Because it is so large we have it away from the wall so our daughter can walk around it on all sides. As she gets taller/able to reach farther (she's currently about 35"), we'll be able to put the long side up against a wall to save some floor space.

As the price indicates, this isn't a high-quality table. But, it serves its purpose. We preferred to spend more money on a nice train set, and save some cash by getting a lower-end table. The pros are that it is very roomy and has a storage drawer which accommodates our 130-piece set. The cons are that it is already showing several scuff marks on the white paint, and it's only a month old. It was extremely easy to assemble, and took about 30-45 minutes. Note that it is quite low to the ground. Our two-year-old has to be on his knees to play with it. So, if you're looking for a table that your child can stand at, this one's not for you.

Perfect table. Did not want one with a printed surface as I wanted the kids to define the play. It has been used for the Thomas train, puzzles, building with blocks, car racing, base for legos and to jump onto the bean bag chairs. Super easy to put together. Love it!

We bought this table for the Melissa and Doug Train set. There was a table at Target that was $70 and much sturdier, but I couldn't return this table at the store I bought it from sadly.
This table is very flimsy. We assembled it for Christmas and by February it was shakey. My son is two - an average toddler tornado. He loved this train table in the store and we couldn't tear him away from it so we thought it would be great to get him.

The beam that keeps the drawer suspended snapped in the middle of the wood. Every time my son picked up a toy and put it on the table, he would knick the side with the toy and remove paint. The fact that the table is painted white is a very poor choice for kids who will no doubt hit the table with toys. The manufacturer should have just left it a natural wood color with a gloss, but I guess pressboard is not as pretty as white paint. *shrug*

The green planks that serve as the table surface are cheap and thin pressboard. And if you're idea is to buy a train set and use woodglue to keep the train tracks on this table, as was my idea, you're in for a treat. The paint prevents the glue from really bonding. So that elaborate train table you spent hours assembling and glueing will basically get pieces knocked off and no doubt it will be the 1 inch piece that will no doubt get lost and mess up your attempts to reassemble the train set.

I ended up completely taking the train pieces off the green boards and throwing them away. The table's support beams which had broken were re-enforced with new boards I had to install. I replaced the flimsy green boards with a piece of solid birch, half an inch thick.

I ordered this table because I already owned the Melissa & Doug trainset. The table is inexpensive compared to the other tables by Kidcraft or other makers. You get what you pay for - because the table is fairly flimsy. It's adequate and does its job, but it's only a little more sturdier than cardboard.

We gave it four stars instead of five because the drawer did not fit perfectly in the middle of the slot for it, nor does it sit flush against the table. It's really a minor inconvenience, especially for the price, but it's still fair to note that this isn't the highest quality piece of furniture out there.

We bought it to use as a table for a dollhouse and also for puzzles, games, blocks, etc. We have an infant and toddler and we needed a way to keep small part toddler toys out of the infant's reach. It's a great height for our 2 1/2 year old. We have a large dollhouse on one side and there's still plenty of room for small puzzles and other toys and play on the other side. The lip on the edge is perfect to catch toys from rolling off the edge - and also keep our toddler from dragging the dollhouse onto the floor. The underneath is open, so I slid a few baskets of toys on both sides and it's all of a sudden doing double duty. The drawer is an ok size. I wish it was the entire length of one side - it seems a waste of space not to have it for storage. I was able to put two of our Melissa and Doug magnetic dress up doll trays with all the accessories inside. There's still plenty of room for more in it, but it's not large enough for puzzle boxes or board games and it's really too large for lots of small toys. Once I have it a while I'm sure I'll come up with a better use for it.

The top edges are all sanded and rounded off so no risk of bumping heads. There are also very small crevices on the sides where the table top fits on, but we've had no issue with toys getting stuck - the gap is probably less than a 1/4 inch.

Overall, very pleased. We also considered the Pottery Barn activity table, but at half the price, this is really a steal. Another home run for Melissa and Doug!
