This is a really great set of play food. All made from wood and seems like it will last forever. We've had ours for about a year now and the paint hasn't even chipped. My son does play with this food almost every day. One minor down side is that my son would like the "boxes" to open. Since the picture isn't too clear the crate come with salt, mustard, ketchup, pasta, rice, soup, ice cream, orange juice, sugar, cereal, pretzels, and waffles.

I bought this set for our pediatric waiting room play area. It is wonderful, fulfilling all our criteria-
1. Can be disinfected over and over without falling apart.
2. Indestructable
3. No choking hazzards- though I can't remember if we took one of the pieces away before putting into our "general store".
4. Provides immaginative fun for different age groups.

I'm buying another one because it is so well liked by our patients that I wanted to give one as a present to some one special.

I am a huge fan of Melissa & Doug products. Overall, I have found their quality to be fantastic and their toys to support creative play. This toy is no different. I have only two words of caution about this product. First, the pieces are heavy. They are made out of solid wood and hit the floor hard if they are dropped. Second, they are big. My children have a Step 2 play kitchen, and these food items are too large to fit comfortably in the cupboards.
This is a great set to be played with separately, but is not something easily incorporated into a child's play kitchen.
