I got this for my 6 year old son. I haven't done one of these painted sun catcher things in forever so my memory could be off but I remember the paint going on easily. The paint in this kit is very gloopy, like semi-set jello. It was really hard to get the paint even and not streaky. We even tried doing a second coat but it still seems to want to gloop up and not spread out nice and thin. It comes with a nice tiny brush so you can access the tiny areas, but you may want to use a bigger brush for the bigger areas. It was all right but I wouldn't buy it again.

I would look for better paints and just get the paint your own ones you can find at craft stores - or maybe consider using this, but buying better paints. That does add to the expense, but a lot of times the ones you find at craft stores are either religiously themed (we're not religious) or girly themed (my son is not a girl!). I really liked the sun catchers themselves in this kit, but the paint is awful!

Of course it's possible we just got a bad batch.

I ordered 2 kits for Christmas gifts. The paint in both sets had turned to gel and were unusable. I called the company, and they were VERY PLEASANT. Within 2 weeks they had sent me 2 replacement kits. The paint in the new kits worked great!
