Baby animals from foals to fish are the stars of this wooden peg puzzle. Each baby animal can be lifted out of the natural wood frame using a small red peg embedded in each puzzle piece. The same laminated pictures that appear on the pieces are illustrated on the puzzle board, making it easy for younger preschoolers to match the animal pairs. The puzzle has rounded edges and the pieces are smoothly sanded. Because this high-quality toy is made to last, several generations of children will enjoy playing with it. --Marcie Bovetz

Here is the thing about puzzles: Puzzles develop eye and hand coordination. Also, little children do not memorize a puzzle, do it one time and that is it. Little children will do a puzzle over and over again. Ask any teacher who teaches younger grades. Puzzles are great.
Personally, I look for toys that are fairly quiet, easy and fun. If they are educational that is good too. I prefer toys that will grow with a child, foster independence and creativity. Puzzles are great!
These puzzles with knobs are excellent for clumsy little fingers to play with. The little knobs make it easier for the child to get the pieces in the spot.
I particularly like the bright pictures with the matching picture in the hole. After the child outgrows these, you can buy the puzzles that are not individual pictures (but rather each piece is part of a whole!) You can graduate to more pieces in a puzzle and few visual clues. So, this puzzle is a great introduction to other puzzles as well.
Another way to make this more challenging is you can mix up several puzzles and let your child work on three or four at once.
Wonderful. This is one toy I'm glad we have in our house!

This wooden puzzle it top notch. It is very high quality and should last a life time. I got it for my babies first birthday and although she still chews on everything in sight, she has not been able to damage this puzzle. The animals are really cute and very colorful. The pegs help her lift out the peices and put them back down easily. The pegs are hard plastic and safe since they are buried deep in the wood and are not removeable. I highly recommend this puzzle. It is as good as they get!

I bought this for my 22 month old daughter and from the moment I unwrapped it she didn't stop playing with it for 3 days. The pictures underneath the pieces are great for learning to match the piece to the puzzle. She also gets to learn what the animals are called. It's fun and a learning tool. The board and pieces are very sturdy and the quality of pictures are great. This toy stays out of the toy box and she puts it together atleast once everyday. I highly recommend.

My daughter got a few of these Melissa & Doug peg puzzles for Christmas, she is now 16 months old and has mastered all of them by now so I keep buying new ones, I love that she loves to sit down and do them, It is so wonderful to sit and help her and watch her learn! I think these are wonderful! She gets so excited to play with her puzzles!

This puzzle is my daughter's favorite. She is 3 and has a disability that interferes with her fine motor skills, which means sometimes putting together puzzles is difficult for her. Not this puzzle, though. She delights in matching the puzzle piece with the picture on the board, and matches and correctly places these pieces 100% of the time. Comparatively, with other puzzles that do not have the detailed pictures, her succes ratio is only about 50%. The pegs on each puzzle piece also help with her pincer-grasping, a great occupational therapy exercise. I highly recommend this puzzle!

My twin 2 year olds borrowed this puzzle from the library and loved it. We have borrowed as many of the Lights Camera Interaction puzzles as possible. It has helped with hand-eye coordination, as well as image recognition. My only problem was with trying to remove ink from the puzzle. We accidentally ruined the puzzle during cleaning, but this companies customer service was a huge help and took care of our replacement needs. I can't say enough great things about this company or its products!

OUR DAUGHTER IS 19 MONTHS OLD AND EVER SINCE SHE GOT THIS PUZZLE A FEW DAYS AGO, SHE HASN'T PUT IT DOWN!!! SHE IS SO DETERMINED TO PUT THE PIECES BACK WHERE THEY BELONG AND LOVES TO TAKE THEM OUT AND START ALL OVER. SHE WAKES UP LOOKING FOR THIS PUZZLE. SHE ALSO LOVES TO MAKE THE SOUNDS OF THE ANIAMLS THAT ARE PICTURED IN THE PUZZLE. BUT MOST OF ALL SHE LOVES TO CLAP WHEN SHE PLACES THE PIECES IN THE RIGHT SPACE. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!

(But that doesn't mean that every child will.) I'm sorry it just irritates me how sometimes parents think that all kids are like THEIR kids.
I got this for my daughter when she was 21 months. She doesn't show any signs of tiring 2 months later. And she was able to easily put it together the first day. I don't think that once it is "solved" that loses educational or entertainment value. It seems like a few reviewers think that their 1-2 year olds need the challenge of a 1,000 piece jigsaw! Like it has to be frustrating to be fun...
Of course it helps if you play with your child, they stay more interested.
My daughter loves animals and knew the dog already but I was amazed by how quickly she mastered identifying the others when I quized her.
I actually think it's good for them to have something that they do well - it gives them a chance to show off for you!
I also suggest that you rotate toys - if they constantly have masses of toys around they usually don't appreciate them as much as when they play with ones they haven't seen for a few days.
Bottom Line: Beautiful, Sturdy Puzzle. I never want to buy any puzzles that aren't from Lights, Camera, Interaction!
