5.0 out of 5 stars A Beautiful, Well Made Barn
My girls; 4,3,&1 years old; received this for Christmas. It's been a hit. Nothing has broken, even when being played with by 5 horse crazy girls. I purchased Schleich horses to go with it, and most (just not the biggest draft type horses) fit perfectly inside. The animals that came with it are fine, but a few of them are pretty scary with orange/red eyes. The animals I...

2.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful toy with a major flaw
The barn is lovely - with great animals, BUT the hinges broke the first time it was picked up by my son. We tried to fix it, but the wood at that point is too thin. My son is very gentle on toys - this is the first he has broken - so it is definately a design fault.

We've had it now for more than 4 years and it is still played with by our now 8, 7, 5, 2, & 1 year olds. The hinge was finally torn, but was easily replaced. Holding up great.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Terrific Toy for Imaginative Fun!, January 30, 2004

I got this for my 2 year old twins. They love it. They put the animals in different compartments of the barn, open and close the doors, stalls, and the barn itself. It's a little pricey, but it really is a beautifully made toy. The animals are also very nicely detailed, very sturdy, and no small parts.

It's holding up wonderfully, with nary a scratch. We got this as a follow-up to a disappointing purchase with a plastic Noah's ark toy, whose doors were always falling off. (Okay, I'm probably spoiling my kids a bit...) At any rate, the ark is in park, but Noah's animals are welcome to come visit the barnyard.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Barn- Not so Great Animals!, August 3, 2006
This review is from: Melissa & Doug Fold & Go Barn (Toy)
We love love love this barn! My two daughters play with it every day and it has held up great. The wood is smooth and well painted and we have had no problems with wear and tear issues. That said... the animals are cheap and not so friendly looking! They remind me of the cheapo plastic animals you buy from the dollar store! Not the high quality we are used to from Melissa and Doug products. So.. buy the barn and toss the silly animals! We replaced ours with nicer rubber animals.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great buy for under $40..., July 15, 2007
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
I just bought this at our local toy store and paid $50 for it. It was a great value at that price as my daughter (2 years old) loves it. It is very well constructed and well finished on the outside. Inside, it has a plain wood with stalls, moving doors, and two floors. It also comes with multiple figures that are well made. When I saw it for only $30 on Amazon, I realized that I had overpaid for it. It is a great play set for kids 2-7 years old.

5.0 out of 5 stars Durable and lots of fun, April 20, 2007
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
My 2 1/2 year old son who loves animals absolutely adores this little barn! Even though he doesn't have a long attention span (barely one at all!), he will spend lots of time with the barn and the little animals that come with it. He loves opening and closing the doors and talking to the animals. It's been very sturdy as he has climbed and stood on it several times. The little 2-piece fence did break off, but could be glued back on easily. The rest of it hasn't even flinched. ;)

My grandson always loved to play with his toy animals. I was looking for a barn to keep them in. This was perfect and he LOVES it. The whole product including hinges and construction is durable and so much fun for my [...] grandson. The windows, swinging gates, bull pen and sliding doors make it a toy he wants to play with all the time at grandma's house.

It captures the imagination of even a 2 year old. Highly recommended. You can even take it with you in trips.

I bought the Multi-level Deluxe Wooden Fold & Go Barn with 7-piece Farm Animal Set for my grand-daughter who was 20 months at the time. She loved it. I loved it too, I thought the workmanship was superior. We were all concerned about the lead paint problem with children's toys and my daughter-in-law did some research and asked me to get the Melissa and Doug toys the farm and the doll house too. Sarah loved both of them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun at the farm, February 18, 2007

We've enjoyed this farm toy. The construction is adequate. There is paint slopped inside here and there, but I'd still rather have that than a plastic toy with no paint at all. The plastic farm animals that come with it don't necessarily "go" anywhere, so it's up to a child's imagination as to all farm goings-on. The hinge is a nice touch-- it truly does fold and go. If you're holding the handles top you could safely carry it out to the car to get it to Grandma's.
